FireWire connectivity (more stable than usb) the number and quality preamps make this interface ideal for good catches of His multi-track. The ability to chain two Pro40 firewire or even add an external preamp to ADAT (Focusrite OctoPre) gives him the opportunity to do real multi with a professional (24bit 96khz).

UTILIZATION

I use it mainly to make the sound in my group and repeated for the model, I also used to get the sound of my Imac to a Yamaha LS9 via ADAT when I made DJ nights.

it is connected to a 21,5pouces iMac (late2009) 2Duo 3.06 GHz intel core with 8GB of DDR3 on LogicProX I get latency 3,5ms output and 7,5ms back and forth with a 96kHz sampling on 24bit (buffer of 256 samples).
I record 8 tracks simultaneously (8 internal preamp) without any problems, I have not tried more.

the drivers are super stable and regularly updated (OSX in my case) no installation worries and routing is very complete.

GETTING STARTED

I encountered one problem with this card, cut the FireWire connection (and mute) when noise on the power supply (for large appliances connection), however the problem was not related the card but provenais FW cable had a ground fault, since the change of it I have not encountered any problems. overall build quality is very neat and exudes strength, the rackmount case is steel and the buttons on the front panel are assembled and without backlash.
preamps are very good qualities, but they lack a bit of gain on dynamic mics like SM58 and other insensitive (if you with condenser microphones sensitive enough this poses no worries), I have personnaly very good results with a pair of Oktava MK012. a slight breath Appear when the gain above 8,5 / 10 is mounted so prefer sensitive microphones.

OVERALL OPINION

This interface is very good in this price range I think it's the only one offering this quality preamp.
I would do without hesitation that choice and I also advised a friend who in fact buying and not disappointed.

what I love most: the sound of the preamp, the number of inputs and outputs, the possibility of routing FireWire.

what I like least: really hard to find, can be a bit more gain on the preamp that's all.
