For three months I have a FIREPOD, so I put a notice to help future purchasers:
My config is a Packard Bell PC with windows SP2 3Ghz proc and 1.5GB of ram.
I use it with Sonar 6 "studio edition", I have over a branch of RS 7000 yamaha, and a Virus indigo. Sonar control via the RS FIREPOD, and rs plays the virus.
At the beginning I had some galleys because it's my sound card and I permiere begin Music. (I was 100% for the hardware but I must admit that the number of tracks and the resolution are that the PC solution is cheaper ...)
Now everything runs like clockwork, not a plant, I work with a latency of 25ms but does not bother me because I'm just not at the studio and live.
UTILIZATION
The insatallation is easy, it's after the problems come when we must set the parameters of the software (sonar in my case) to enjoy the full power of the Firepod.
the manual is very light, but who knows enough to take the time to seek information about AF.
GETTING STARTED
I work on compounds that are electros 16 tracks on average, if a plant is primarily due to my USB hard drive and my PC is not really made for music.
I work in 24 bits 88.2 khz.
The recorded sound is very faithful to the original, there is no rule of breath if correstement gains.
The knob that lets you go from the original (instrumentals) in its software (dej registered tracks) is very convenient.
the knobs of peakmtre possess a very practical too.
As against the only thing that bothers me with this card is the fact that entries are placed in front: they could have démerder to put the back, to quit a 2U rack. Because we are left with the jack at the workstation, was messy ...
So to summarize it is cheap and a card that can do a good job. I would do it again even if choice I must admit that I did not try other products. The FIREPOD did what I asked so I do not need more.
