1 Cakewalk, laptop and soundcard
I have Cakewalk Sonar 1.3 and wanted to use my HP pavilion laptop with it for prog-rock/new age music arrangements.

I would like to know if anybody has any suggestions for a good laptop soundcard to use with this setup. I want to record midi and vocals. I have a Yamaha SW1000XG in a desktop I also own but obviously can't install this in my laptop. If I compose a song with midi and audio in Cakewalk, will I hear the whole arrangement through the soundcard?

I also want to find out if there are any softsynths that mimic a mellotron as I love the sound produced by this instrument.

Also is there a good cheap sampler on the market?

Many thanks for your help.
