I got an m-audio omni studio and think it was a bit much for what I needed. I got talked into it from a guy a Guitar Center. If you're starting out I think the Mbox that ProTools offers is really your best bet. I went to a demo class on it and liked what it offered. And you get that for the price I paid for my omni studio.
