Great arp

The Korg Electribe EMX1SD is a groove production machine that has a built in slot for your SD card. The EMX1SD is affordable costing less than 500 dollars and is very easy to program it, you don’t have to be a sound designer or a pro at drum programming to figure out how to work this machine. You will not even have to check out the manual to figure it out because it is pretty self explanatory to use the EMX1SD. If you do need to use the manual it is perfectly laid out to find what you are looking for.

UTILIZATION

The EMX1SD by Korg has some really neat features that were not on previous versions of the Electribe, the EMX1SD has a twin vacuum tube valve that will bring a really warm punchy sound to your programs. When bringing audio into the EMX1SD, you can use the auto BPM function to find out what the tempo of the audio file is. Sometimes it is not right on with the tempo and you might have to tweak the tempo a little bit to get it exactly to match up with what it should be.

SOUNDS

The EMX1SD has MIDI in MIDI out and MIDI thru and External Memory up to 32GB via a memory or SD card. Along with a ¼ TS Audio in and ¼ TS main, ¼ TS individual 3 and 4 plus 1 ¼ headphone output.

OVERALL OPINION

The value for the price of the EMX1SD by KorgElectribe is right on. For the low price of 500 dollars you will be able to do things that some of your more expensive gear cannot perform. The sequencer was actually a big shock to me because I didn’t expect it to be that crisp coming on a Korg unit that cost so little. Same thing with the “arp” function, it uses the ribbon controller and sliders to get the “arps” you want. The EMX1SD is well worth the money it cost.

How many sounds, styles available? Are they edited? Through a utility Mac / PC?
What are the characteristics of the sequencer?

We are talking here about a standalone machine (happens a PC) with sound bases (saw, sin, etc ...), we can processed through different filters, put their effects, play and record what you play with the sequencer.
sequencer ... it is good but not great ... leaves little room for the "groove" despite a swing function that simulates a slight time lag notes played ...
All this with a box section rate ...

UTILIZATION

The general configuration is it simple?
The usual functions are they easily accessible?
The manual is clear and sufficient?

this machine is, I think, damn good ...

sometimes I would have liked a few more buttons to save me some manipulation ', but overall it will largely ...
the facade is beautiful and full of knobs and pads, the usual functions are easily accessible ...

the manual is made available in French and download on the web (if you are looking for and galérez, MP me, I will send) ...
I read carefully enough in the early days and have dropped for several months because intuition is apparent, this is a nice aspect of the machine, it takes a lot of fun to play .. .

SOUNDS

The sounds they suit your style of music?
Are they realistic?
The effects are they effective and responsive?
The expression is good? (Reaction velocity, aftertouch)?
What are the sounds you prefer, you hate? ...

sounds right for me, I type in electro, so good ... here ...
hip-hop inspires me, but it is very distilled in what I play ...
they are not realistic and that's the whole point, right?
Me, I was not looking for a synthesizer that reproduces me beautiful sounds of pianos or harpsichords! ^ ^
was heavy and greasy ...

no aftertouch pads and simulating a keyboard not suitable for game ..
something that is, it will be imperative to have a midi keyboard to hand, it is essential ...
not worth spending hundreds of euros, keyboard p'tit to start is nicely ...

the effects are pretty good, but not force it if it's spitting beast ...

the sounds I prefer those "acid" ... I love ... and the beast is capable of amazing sounds in this area ...

OVERALL OPINION

How long have you use it?
What is the particular feature you like best and least?
Have you tried many other models before buying it?
How would you rate the quality / price?
With experience, you do again this choice?

so that is 2 years that I use, I have not tried any other before buying it (I know it's wrong).
I love this machine because I find it very Muse (she inspires me), I play at least 30 minutes per day in the week, when I have more time, and it may be several hours on weekends .. .
that's be clear, this is not high end, but not low-end either ...

what I love most: the big fat sound and induced motivation!
what I like least: no polyphony, it is a cruel lack ... no sampler, but in the end, it is certainly better to have another machine dedicated solely to sample ...

Price / quality ratio: compared to the prices of machines electro music, this is quite a good price, after my stingy side asked me to write that around 400 euros, it was not bad ... ^ ^
