Sonny Boy Havidson

Japanese version bought second hand.
So the Boss is the more solid and is an analog model. Other well described with this pedal, let me just say that access to the battery is OK but certainly not as good as the battery compartment of a Tube Screamer.
UTILIZATION
The use could not be more intuitive.
Another good point: the power consumption is very low.
SOUND QUALITY
This is an analog chorus sound is so hot at the cost of a little breath (inevitable on these pedals). This is not a neutral sound and c'esl her interest, at least when the effect is Inrush because it is not true bypass. To summarize: the character and some defects, is anything but a digital pedal ...
In itself, the effect can range from subtle to radical, the style of John Scofield settings (it uses an Ibanez chorus anaogique). I bought it at a time when I liked the sound of electro-acoustic guitars of the 1980s (which I find very kitsch today) and it corresponds quite well to the chorus of those years, it is also pedal used by the Police in stereo (mono is quite another). On reflection, I would have appreciated a set of mixing between the original sound and the sound effect but I'm going very well.
If mono sound is very good stereo sound on the other hand is a marvel.
I use it very little now except in jazz contexts where it can easily fill the space and to make models which I appreciate very much his office stereo.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it since 2002 in a very irregular. I do not intend to change for several reasons:
- I use some chorus,
- It suits me very well as a mono to stereo,
- I do not like the current digital chorus.
I probably would do the same choice even if I like the Ibanez Chorus Anolog because its like it still costs € 160 while the EC-3 only costs € 40 second hand.
