UTILIZATION

Pretty straightforward to compressor to use. Tone, volume, and compression controls are all pretty basic.

The problem is the way the controls change completely between the compression and sustain modes. It becomes a completely different pedal, and its very difficult to keep a similar sound between the two.

My other complaint is how difficult it was to dial in a transparent tone on the pedal.

The paint is a lot more sturdy then the original BJFE pedals, but still pretty easy to chip.

SOUND QUALITY

Its alright. I found it a little noisy for a high end compressor, especially compared to the original BJFE Pine Green Compressor or the much cheaper Diamond.

In terms of actual compression, it did a pretty good job on the compression side. It just didn't add the character or clarity I was looking for.

The sustain side is a pretty cool feature, and one I'd never seen before. It basically leaves the attack intact but draws out the decay. Could be very useful for a metal guitarist looking for more sustain but without any squish.

OVERALL OPINION

To be honest, I just wasn't that impressed with this one. I tried it alongside a PGC and Diamond, and have used numerous other compressors in the past.

The actual compression and sustain sounds, once dialed in, where pretty good. But it was just annoying to dial in and didn't really add the character I was looking for.

At $200 new, its not a bad compressor. But honestly, I would pass, and there is no way I'd shell over $350-400 for the hand wired version. If you can afford an original BJFE Pine Green Compressor, they are fantastic. As as of May 4th, 2011, the crazy ebay prices seem to be dropped. On more of a budget, I would recommend the Diamond compressor which is fantastic.

The Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor is a compression pedal for electric guitar, and is one with a super smooth sound. It's an analog pedal that has the standard configuration for a pedal, with 1/4" jacks for input and output and also a nine volt power supply jack in addition to a nine volt battery compartment. It isn't going to be rack mountable in any form as it's a stomp box.

UTILIZATION

It isn't hard to use the Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor in my opinion, as everything is more or less self explanatory. The three parameters that it has are knobs for level, compression, and tone. It also has a switch to choose between either a compression or sustain mode. I haven't had a look at a manual for this pedal.

SOUND QUALITY

Whether you're using the Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor in sustain or compression mode, it really sounds smooth and clean. It's designed for either electric guitar or bass guitar, but I've only used it with electric guitar. I client brought in a handful of Mad Professor pedals including this one, using a Fender Telecaster and our Fender Pro Reverb, and the combination was virtually unstoppable. This pedal is great for getting a few different types of compression tones. For rhythm guitars it's awesome for getting a little bit of crunchy and compactness for super clean and tight rhythm parts, while for leads the sustain mode is incredible for getting some endless sustain for your lead parts.

OVERALL OPINION

As far as I'm concerned, the Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor pedal is as good as just about any other guitar compressor out there. It excels across the board and for getting all sorts of different compressed guitar sounds. It's also cool that it is also designed for bass guitar. The price is definitely not making this the cheapest option out there, but if you want high quality like this you're going to have a pay a bit more. If you're using a lot of compression live or in the studio on your guitar, it's definitely worth it to spend a few extra bucks on one of the best guitar compressors out there.

As there are no settings attack, release, sustain, etc ... Usage is very simple.
Just set compression level according to your needs.

SOUND QUALITY

I often read / heard that it was a super transparent compressor, I personally do not find it. It colors your sound subtly adjustable manner (tone knob).
The result is truly excellent, more pushing the compression adjuster background we get a pumping effect of surprising quality for a compressor pedal format.
I only use with guitars.

OVERALL OPINION

I have this effect for 3 years now. I am fully satisfied.
I bought it without reading reviews trying to right to left that defined as a (if not the) best compressor market pedal format and I do not regret.

I have the "factory" version, I have not had the opportunity to compare it to the hand-made version, but the price difference is such that it would really be that much better be worth it. Also I've read that some even preferred the factory version of the level!

This is a compressor / analog sustaineur with three knobs of adjustment (Level, Tone and Comp) and a mini-toggle switch to switch between the affine and sustaineur compressor, a jack in and out a footswitch jack " true-bypass "all powered by battery or mains 9 to 18 volts.
And of course made entirely by hand, as directed by Bjorn Juhl Forstarker Elektronik ...!

"BJF design" a term that speaks volumes .....

BJFE, for those who do not know, this is all simply the best pedals in the world and it is not me who says ... Snapped against them by the price of gold saw their rarity and their sound qualities.

UTILIZATION

Nothing too complicated or .... one branch and plays ... Note that this compressor can be either installed before or after the overdrive and various distos for a different and very musical.

SOUND QUALITY

What is striking in the first place, it is silent when it is used, even when the knob "comp" is back.
The pumping effect is very effective, it outperforms all other brands including the Keeley comp which is a reference in this field and function sustaineur is devilishly effective as it is a terrible Booster for distos or even simply scream your lamps .... Function tone filled his role well and also keeps the "foil" which is not a foregone conclusion with a compressor pedal size ... Note that this is also a pedal that works perfectly on the Bass ..

OVERALL OPINION

It must be 4 or 5 years that I used mainly boost and silence is really copy its major asset, the result is clean sound excellent too ... The two functions are very well met. this is a must
Just a little regret is not being able to use both functions at the same time the pedal via a footswitch for the adjustment must be repeated for each switch function (including the volume), but there is really to quibble ^ ^ ...
In any case I do not regret the money put into this pedal and I would do the same again ... today!

Note that there are two versions: the "handmade" crazy price generally found at 345 euros, which is a nice amount, but for this specific model, it is worth it because it is by far the best compressor pedal format market ...
The other model is the "Factory Made" which is much less expensive (195 euros anyway) but I do not know but all performance evidence, such a price difference must be understood and I have read here and there, for the same price (about 200 euros) is not the best on the market but that I can not personally testify.
