« Ibanez DE-7 Delay Echo »
Published on 11/17/03 at 15:00Bought for $89.99 from Musician's Friend because I wanted to try to re-create The Edge's tone.
Rugged construction. Very, very good sound, especially for filling out wailing solo. Good controls for tweaking the sound. Without any experience with delay effects, I was able to get exactly what I wanted. And the Tone-Lok controls (which allow you to lock and recess the controls once you set them) are heavenly! Every pedal manufacturer should have something like this.
The footswitch is rugged, but also not hugely responsive because the battery compartment is right under it. Also, this pedal eats batteries like mad, and when it's low on juice, the effect becomes inaudible and kills the tone. A power supply may be desireable.
Good. They should, however, look at the spring-loaded footswitch and make it more sensitive without losing durability.
Given the sounds I'm able to get from this pedal, I highly recommend it despite its shortcomings. Ibanez hit the nail on the head with the Tone-Lok series.
