Blues can be a little aggressive to very hard metal from hard rock / rock / punk rock and everything that goes with it ...
I benefit but the distortion breath is not so HUGE you might think

SOUND QUALITY

You can get the sounds you want through the tone controls, and adjust the level of distortion and the distortion level between on or off (to adjust the volume of the distortion relative to the light)

OVERALL OPINION

Pedal to get a good bass distortion, ideal for any type of metal, but also for the Hard Rock ... I use it for all styles of live ca to send big sound.
For recordings cons, ca spits a little too quiet for most styles (pop rock, ...).

but personally, I use this pedal since I play guitar (6 years), and I do not separate. And seeing distortion Berhinger, Ok, it costs cheaper, but the difference in quality is immediately apparent.

Not much to say about the caracs, indeed it is a distortion pedal standard, easy to use with just the right setting in order to cover the spectrum of use.

UTILIZATION

Simple really simple one branch sets the gain, volume and EQ and is part sends it directly.

Small board (which is not a revelation, but use a good PSU to buzz gaffe otherwise).

SOUND QUALITY

The MT-2 is very easy to adjust the EQ is very responsive and can cover a wide range of distorted sound. Although in my case I only used it to get a metal sound with very little cut medium.

The gain is huge I am served for almost 5 years as a preamp with a home made amp and send it wood (all proportions guarded).

OVERALL OPINION

I no longer used today, but it is not a twinge of sadness but I'm just needs more in my new config.
This pedal I served for over 15 years and has never failed.

An incredible robustness whether generally or at the connectors.

Never had a problem with cracking or other false contacts is concrete (reinforced report his name ^ ^)

Go ahead with your eyes closed.

I do not put 10 because nothing is perfect but it is not far.

personally the same basis as the digitech death metal, to benefit from the best clean channel I condemn my peavey amp (ValveKing 212) of the distortion remains the only "master" of the situation.

I have chosen to keep it for now (pending dune digitech metal master) because despite its lack of low and medium where everything is thoroughly, it gives very smooth phrasing that can be very enjoyable progressive metal as rock "satrianesque"

in any case it sends 100 times more than a pod in the return of a tube amp, I found what was a rather imposing presence and it is no worse qq hand, once again we have to find the best way and study all facets of the metal box to say that it is not that great.

When you're all alone at home, we really feel like "the" sound of metal that kills death and we are pleased we can dream ... The problem is that if we will repeat with, we already said that a noise gate would have been quite as breath is important. UTILIZATION

I always love the buttons and tweak what is not these unfortunate knob that scare me! The handling is very simple, the manual is almost useless. We shoot, we see what happens and then return it to understand what each buttons are.

SOUND QUALITY

This should be about 6 years that I have this pedal if not more. I had a few months after my first electric guitar. Chooses a bit by default, being new at this at the time, I just wanted a distortion pedal to play the song of my favorite group of the time. I thought she was great with my little transistor amp marshall has 15 watts
With time I learned new things, my ear is improved, new equipment has arrived and after a year and a half I completely neglected. I finally find the foul and I still do.
The sound is neutral, synthetic, too "hardcore" for my taste and my style. The éqaliseur works very well gives a wide range of sounds but only unusable.
But there are quite a few months, out of curiosity I decided to resortir to experiment a bit, and especially out of the dust! And it is qu'additionner with the overdrive of my amp (100 watt ashdown fallen angel hybrid) I can get stuff from the beast! I could get the sound of the song "Till I Get My Way" Black Keys! It plays very well the role of EQ pedal with boost bonus.

OVERALL OPINION

Conclusion:
Pedal very poor for my taste in "standalone" but is very effective coupled with an overdrive that will provide the necessary heat and restore some life to the metal box.
In my opinion it up to ca in most musical styles. Only, it will be suitable to the metal, trash, ect ect (area that does not attract me especially) but for all the other style (blues, rock, pop, alternative why not even RnB) it will use it wisely and not especially only. It's not really the ultimate distortion pedal for the novice!
So for now it remains in front of my amp. But once I have the means I highly likely to replace it with a good fuzz.

Was about $84 when I bought it a few years back. I bought it, tried using it for a while, put it aside for about a year or so, took it out again to try out, then ended up selling it. ***I bet this review probably will or already has bad ratings on it, mainly because of "cool kids" and their sad music of today. ***READ ON***

Yeah, nothing really to put in here to be truely honest.

I don't see why Boss even put the mid range frequency and mid control knobs, the idiot kids who buy this piece of junk are just going to put them both at or about at 0 and boost their highs and lows to get the worst sounds ever! When you add in the mids and mid frequency, you realize, wow, what a piece of $hit! This pedal sounds horrible! You add the mids in and you get a nasaly over the top distortion. Even when you turn the distortion down, it's still sort of a lot of distortion. Word of advice, if you are some kid who buys this pedal because you think metal or punk is cool and boost the highs and lows and turn down the mids, take your family photos off the wall, all I can say is you are going to produce tons of rumble out your amp and whatever is on your walls in your little room is going to fall down and hopefully break. If you are into that rumbling distortion that sounds like crap, go right ahead and buy the piece of garbage. I hated the pedal, wished I didn't waste the $80-something on it, so I went and practically gave it away to this person I knew who played bass and guitar, hope he's having fun with it, because it's like a little pile of dog crap on the floor that produces sounds that sound like crap!

It's a Boss pedal, very reliable stuff. Unfortunately, these crappy little Metal Zone pedals will probably last longer and be on the market longer than the good distortion pedal will be around for, which is very, very sad. Let me say it again, very, very SAD!

You can't even get a decent crunch out of the pedal, all you can get is rumble and sound like a little 14 year old kid who just picked up guitar because "it's cool". BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE MANY KIDS WHO PICK UP GUITAR TO BE COOL, GIVE IT A REST 'FOREVER', SELL OR GIVE AWAY YOUR CRAP AND NEVER PLAY GUITAR AGAIN! The only reason Boss has been making some of the $hittiest pedals I've ever used, is because of the kids and the crappy music of today! Boss is now making pedals like the DS-2, the MT-2, and the MD-2 to sell and make loads of $ on idiot kids who want to play songs from the crap music of today! Boss makes good distortion pedals, the DS-1, the BD-2, and their overdrive pedals are really nice and transparent, you can get the sounds of a nice old tube stack using the DS-1, BD-2, SD-1, and OD-3, that's if you don't have a tube amp or head. Those 4 Boss distortion and overdrive pedals sound really good on solid state amps also. REAL MUSICIANS, GO FOR ONE OF THOSE FOUR PEDALS, EITHER THE DS-1, BD-2, SD-1, OR OD-3, if you are looking to get a good sounding pedal by Boss.

I bought mine a few years ago and never really used it. I bought it for like $85 new

It's built pretty well and has a lot of EQ'ing options, but they don't help you out too much with the way this pedal sounds.

I took this pedal back out of its box a month ago to try out, and it took me so long to dial in a decent ( <- key word there) sound. Boss really emphasized the mids way too much, it's mainly there because they knew anyone who's gonna buy the pedal wants to get that no mids at all sound and just boost the highs and lows to get that HUGE-$HIT distortion that covers up pathetic guitar playing. If you add in the mids, it sounds pretty bad, very nasaly no matter how you put the EQ's. I did dial in a decent sound, but it still wasn't what I wanted, so I sold the piece of junk to my friend for $40.

Boss makes very durable and long lasting pedals, too bad all of them don't sound good. They should try to make every pedal sound good and last for a while instead of just making long lasting but semi-decent sounding pedals. (that goes for the distortion pedals only) The only good Boss distortion pedal I like is the DS-1, because I play classic rock and it is PERFECT for classic rock!

Go ahead and listen to some of the idiot reviews here and on other websites, but believe me, most of the people who use this pedal and say it is good say that only because they get rid of or use little to no mids at all to get that "nu-age", rumble "rock" sound, which is PATHETIC and terrible!!! I won't even consider it as rock music because it isn't! The metal zone isn't Boss's worst distortion pedal, but one of their many bad sounding distortion pedals, it's down there with the DS-2 and the Mega Distortion pedal. I guess this is good for that new age sound, but if you are a real musician that plays real rock music, don't even waste your time by trying the metal zone out, it's crap.

Dont remember....I think about $150

I have owned the Metal Zone for about 6 years now. I play thru a Boogie 50 Calibur head with Boogie 4x12 Cabinet. I have Pros and Cons with this pedal:

Pros:
Ungodly rightous metal sound. And Justice For All'ish sound. By clipping the mids and turning the high and low up a bit with the distortion set to 100% of course, its a great metal petal with killer bass. Chunk Chunk palm mutes bring a smile to everyones face everytime. Love adding some subtle delay to the tone to round it out a bit and also for lead.



Cons: Cannot be used for gigs or even band practice. The tone is just way too "thin" when cranked up. Now, maybe on a very powerful amp it would sound different. But on my setup you have to crank the amp to like 7 7 on the volumes to be heard and by that point the crispness of the tone is totally gone.

Solid.

A great sounding pedal. Ability to manipulate your sound to a studio level. Perfect for "Metallica-...And Justice for all" sound and power metal sound.Looks great too, black satin finsih with red markings over.

Well, it's hard to find something wrong on this almost-perfect pedal, but there is that lack of real mid crunch in the sound, you can twist the sound knobs as much you like but you can never get your guitar to sound like Godsmack's or Machine Head. It's just not fitted for new metal.And there's also power consumption, it uses a 9V battery which can last through 2 or 3 gigs.

Metal casing, heavy. Pressing point is cooked rubber as well the bottom of the pedal so it can't slip under your foot when you press it.

This is a heavy-trash-power-death metal pedal and nothing else. if you want a more crunchier cound you'll have to manipulate it through an equilazer on your PA or your amp.

I got this little beast at my local music shop. Its a great product, so it should be readly available almost anywhere. The unit was about 100 US$.

This thing is GREAT.. it may have the BEST metal sound of all the metal pedals out there. It has a very VERY wide range of gain. You can easly give your sound a bit of fuzz, or enough distortion to hear evey sqeak of your finger on the string (gives feedback at about 80% gain). It also features a 3 band EQ. They cut/boost the signal 15dB (quite a noticible range). The Mid freq is also VARIABLE. With these controls.. you can almost get any type of distortion. Like the name implies though, it is primarally a metal pedal, but its not limited to...

Its absolutely perfect.

Like any other Boss pedal, it is very very sturdy.. these things are made to last, from the knobs, to the case, to the jacks.. You can jump on the thing and it wont break. Knobs are pretty hard to break (unless you really try). The signal is pretty much 100% free of noise even at max gain (if you hear a moderate amount noise, its your guitar, or the low quality of your patch chords, with the right stuff, you shouldnt be able to tell if the effect is on or of by the amount of noise)

Its a proffessional quality pedal.. no doubt about it.

If price isnt an issue.. get it...!

When I first began teaching myself to play guitar, I purchased a Crybaby Wah-Wah pedal which proved too much for me to handle so I took into a local guitar shop and traded it in for the Boss Metal Zone MT-2. The pedal was priced at about $75.00 and was a very worthy purchase.

I love this unit. It has 6 different knobs that can produce a huge variety of sounds from light distortion and classic rock to heavy metal. My guitar is a strat with single coil pickups that don't sound great when played directly though my Fender Deluxe 90 amplifier, but, when played through the Metal Zone pedal the sound is much more powerful and pronounced.

I haven't had any problems with this pedal. I've owned it for about a year and have absolutely no complaints.

The construction seems to be very durable. I haven't really stomped around on the pedal too much, but I use it every day and have moved it across the country more than once. It still looks new and hasn't ever given me any problems with the electronics, input/ouptuts, or pedal.

I would recommend this unit to anyone. Like I said above, I'd had it for over a year, have no complaints or problems, and love the sound it gives me. It's modestly priced and well worth the money.

For a one year I owned a guitar processor by Zoom. Zoom had a very horrible hours, especially distortion. And now I bought Metal Zone by BOSS for 89$.

Pedal gives a tube-like distortion. It has a great range of distortion and a cool sound. Like a tube stack sounds!!! Also there is a 3-band equilizer with a parametric middle. It gives you a variety of sound combinations.

Some times I feel that sounds is a few flat. But is a transistor pedal, not tube. And I don't have a tube combo (yet) to get a right tone that BOSS is created.

This pedal has a massive metal box (as all BOSS pedals). It has 6 parameters: a low freq boost/cut, a high freq boost/cut, a middle freq boost/cut, a middle freq range and a distortion. Quality keeps rockin'. The Pedal is not noisy at all with right use.

Buy this pedal if you are playing
hard rock, heavy metal, power metal, trash.

I got this box at Axe Music for I think $180 Can. I heard good things about it from magazines and friends.

I like the crazy ripping sound it gives, and the fact that its so versatile. (Capable of a metal sound to a vintage type rock n' roll sound, even blues.) Its got a really piercing, scream-type sound, which i find is perfect for thrash metal, and roll off the gain a bit and tweak the EQ some, and you can get really sweet grunge sounds too. I also love how i've dropped it down stairs like 50 times and the paint hasnt even chipped.

One thing that i don't like too much is that the Mid control is like a Treble control rather than a Mid. I don't like to play with a lot of mid, so I usually keep the control in the middle, anywhere below 5 it sounds like someone put a blanket over your amp. Also I hate that battery life is only like 20 - 30 mins. of playing.

A few words to describe construsction: Bulletproof, indestructable, very solid, all metal (except for knobs), awesome.

If you play metal, get this pedal. If you play anything else, get this pedal. Extemely versatile, kind of like a Les Paul, awesome for any type of music. Sweeeeet screaming distortion.

I had bought the boss MT-2 from Pakistan for Rs.6000 which is round about 60 British pounds from a local vendor and i recommend you buying it for about the same price as well.

To start off, the unit is great. But as the name of the pad is 'Metal Zone', it only plays metal well. The pad is must for people playing Metallica(try master of puppets on this baby and u'll see what i mean) and other hard rock groups. The unit is finished in a cool black design with orange engravings on it which is very cool. The sound qulity is great and about 3 times louder than many processors i have seen.

One thing to keep in mind is that grunge and alternative cannot be played. .The only problem that i experience is excessive unwanted distortion and noise(a lot of static). This seems to be the only problem that i experience although this can be cured by staying at a distance from your amp.

As i have mentioned above , the sound qualiy is far better than any processor or other distortion pedals. The pad is fairly easy to use and excessive battery consumtion can be prevented by pulling the wires off when not in use. You can alter the drive and amount of distrtion as well the level of sound.

I would recommend it as a must for metal heads. The unit is the best available and the price tag is quite reasonable. It is most suited for professional players or experienced players.
