the quality of this product is very good, it is encased in a very srong metal box,no wires are sticking out ,very sturdy ,could take lots of punishment and abuse
the bottom line is this pedal is worth the money you pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Published on 04/12/03 at 15:00I got it from a friend, I traded my danelectro black licorice for it.
It has a parametric eq, and bass and treble and gain and volume controls, lots of possiblilities. Good amount of gain. This can emulate lots of different peoples sounds. Lots of sustain.
It is very tinny, and the treble is quite weak sounding. You have to play with it alot to get some good sounds worth using alot. It doesn't sound very good when you turn down the distortion, it has too much compression.
It is boss, tough as a tank, built to last.

Published on 03/18/03 at 15:00I bought it at the Guitar Center. I bought it because I needed a good metal distortion pedal and I was getting angry at my Digitech one. I payed about $80.
I like the variety of knobs and the ability to change the level of distortion unlike on my old Digitech pedal. I also think it us very durable.
Ummm...can't think of anything I don't like about it.
It's made of metal I think. Very durable.
This pedal is good for anyone who wants to sound like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, or In Flames.

it makes you sound like you're playing through a tin can. there is WAAAAAAY too much Mid and High end frequency. this is the worst pedal i have ever heard. you can really only get one of two sounds out of this pedal, and they are both really bad. i have NO idea why people like this pedal.

Published on 01/30/03 at 15:00I bought this off a friend, second hand. I paid 40 Euros for it which converts to 40 US dollars.
It is solidly built, and as good as new. It doesn't take up much space and it is easy to get a pack of new sounds by turning a knob. Apt for everyone I would say.
It will run off batteries before I have time to say 'Jesuuus'.
As mentioned before in the likes section: very solid. This guy had it for two years and I can't even appreciate it.
I don't really understand how anyone would like to get rid of this pedal. It is an excellent distortion pedal for any songs. I really really really like the 'Rock 2' preset. Simply amazing. If you cun buy an ACDC adaptor.

I like the mid range sweep parametric EQ. I set the mid EQ to maximum negative, then sweep the frequency back and forth until I get a "V" sound that I like. Tons of bass. Sounds good to me in a transistor Peavey amp as well as in a Soldano tube amp (however its two distinctly different sounds). Ideal for palm mute distortion.
Be advised that the distortion is thick so your other equipment needs to be able to handle it; otherwise it can muddy out "weak" amps and speakers. (This is not a tube screamer or a pure volume boast to boast a lead section, so if you are looking for that, this unit will disappoint.) On the other hand, if you've got a 120 watt tube (or transistor) head with robust speakers to match. Whoa, this thing can do the "wall of sound with lots of bass" thing. Never tried recording with it.
Solid.
I'm giving this a five because when the EQ is "sucked out" or "V", it makes a great massive palm mute sound. Look elsewhere for a "cut through the band" lead device.

Its got the capability to produce every sound from a meaty, Metallica-style thump, to a Jimi Hendrix scream depending on how you set it up. The sample settings provided with the unit are very helpfull and you can fine tune them to your own needs. Whether you're just messing around or performing live this pedal is amazing. The simple stomp-box switch is great for shifting in and out of distortion mid-song. For example i used it to play Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters' which is mostly clean and i just kicked it in for the solo.
Very few complaints, mainly the cost but this is a high performance machine. There's also a little fuzz if you leave your rig set up with the pedal on but this is easily righted by kicking the pedal off when not playing. It does eat through 9V batteries like nobody's business so unplugg it when your not using it or, even better, get a Boss mains adapter for it.
It is incredibly robust, you can jump up and down on it without effect, i've dropped it, kicked it repeatedly in and out of distortion and it will not break.
The most brilliant sounding and versatile pedal i have ever played. Boss are a renouned manufacturer but they have surpassed themselves here.

When I first got this, I was amazed. I thought it could do anything. But after a long time of use, the bass sounded like crap, and the volume was cutting out. Of course, that's probably just b/c I don't know how much it was used before I bought it... But other than the fact that it didn't last forever... it's great (I suppose I could get it fixed...).
This is made by Boss, and they make their pedals tough. I bet you could drive over it with your car and it would work just like it did before you decided to do something so stupid. Actually, I was thinking about throwing out my window to prove how tough it is. I bet my friends with thier crappy Digitech stuff wouldn't ever try that...
Bottom line is: If you are looking for a better distortion than what you got, give this a try. It should give you everything you need and a little more. No wonder so many people use this pedal (I heard some now famous bands used to use this back in the day... well, I perform and it's good enough for me though.) Great Pedal.

There's nothing i really didn't like about this pedal. I do get quite a bit of feedback when playing loud, but this could be b/c i lay through a crappy PA. But even on my small practice amp i get some. I have a seymour duncan dimebucker and a DiMarzio Tonezone in my guitar and i still get quite a bit of feedback. But muting the strings when not playing solves this. Also, don't turn your lows up to high or you will get kind of a rumble sound when playing.

Well I think Boss-metal zone is a very well known pedal. There is really no need that I am here to tell you guys how great this baby is, because you might heard 1000 times before!
Buy it or die!

Boss MT-2 Distortion
Published on 02/16/02 at 15:00I bought this pedal from a friend for 40 bucks. Great deal, because it was in perfect condition and it had box and instructions.
It has some serious gain! The distortion has this real metalic sound to it, that is perfect for heavy metal solos. I also like the unit's useability. The knobs are real easy, and the pedal even comes with some sample settings for it (heavy metal, british rock, fuzz, ect.) However the fuzz setting doesn't really sound like fuzz.
I wish that a sort of calmer setting came with the pedal. Don't get me wrong, I love the enormous gain, but I also wish that it has some cleaner tones. It's as hard as a rock. Believe me, Boss makes the best-quality stomp boxes around. Don't buy that danelectro crap.
I would really reccomend this pedal for anyone whom wants a snarling solo. This pedal is designed to blow the audiences' mind, so don't buy this if your attempting to use it for soft rock.

Published on 12/22/01 at 15:00i brought this pedal off a friend for $50 Aus (about $24us) who only just brought it new for $280 Aus because he brought a Digitech Multi Effects Board and didnt want it anymore. i got it because i play metal and needed a good distortion pedal
i like the rugged construction and the vast eq settings available
i brought this pedal expecting to have this monstourous bone shattering distortion, it does that pretty well but thats about it. this pedal sounds muddy , eats batters if you leave the cable plugged into it even if its off and you cant get any good distortion tones out of it , i play Metallica mainly and this pedal couldnt handle that for shit no matter what the eq and dist settings …Read morei brought this pedal off a friend for $50 Aus (about $24us) who only just brought it new for $280 Aus because he brought a Digitech Multi Effects Board and didnt want it anymore. i got it because i play metal and needed a good distortion pedal

the construction is amazing ive dropped it , thrown it and accidently spilt a drink on it and it still works fine the only thing that lets this pedal down is the muddy ultra high gain not enough control distortion this pedal gives out
bottom line this sucks if your a Metallica player or a player of any great tube toned band , its great for ultra heavy thrash but for normal Metal this isnt the pedal but this is only an oppinion , i much perfer the Marshall Jackhammer as it gives you a great tone and great controlability

Published on 12/04/01 at 15:00I bought this pedal about a week back (brand new) for about 115 bucks at Walters music store in Toronto.
I purchased it because I recently bought a Fender Hotrod Deville and was looking for a better metal sound that I could customize.
So many variables... This pedal sounds great on my amp and has many different options so you can create your own sound.
From Fuzz to Heavy Metal this pedal does it all.
The only thing I don't like about the unit is that it SUCKS UP batteries.
Solution: Use an adaptor
Like all Boss pedals... Invincible.
This pedal can take a beating.

I know this box has been reviewed many times, and I have yet to see anything negative. It's almost a moot point, but anyone who needs some serious distortian needs this box! It has more versatility and a better overall sound than any other effects pedal I've heard. I'm currently running through a Fender Princeton 65 watt amp. I've only had the box for a couple of weeks, but it's all ready been dropped once or twice...It's housed in a sturdy metal casing...just by BOSS's reputation alone, I'm sure it can stand up to anything...anything except possibly Weezer's music..
Bottom line? BUY THIS PEDAL!

wanted better distortion
$189 (pretty cheap) new
solid unit ,unbreakable, sounds great, the booklet is helpful for try some sounds the first one is good (heavy metal)
It should come with the adaptor since the pedal is so expensive. The adaptor is $55
I have only had it a few months and havent used it much but i have seen some guy's that jump up and down on the and run over them with trucks.
expensive but worth it. If your'e looking at getting a dist pedal try one out and see what you think.
