I got it for xxxmas but my dad paid $125 CAD for it at Long & McQuade.

I wanted an awesome biting/rumbly distortion and this pedal delivers in spades. The 5:00 position on the Morph knob is kinda like a "High Tech" metal tone, the 12:00 position is a thin, piercing sound and the 8:00 position is a biting old school tone on steroids (f#ckin awesome for low tunings, you can practically feel the sizzle man!). You can make a low death metalish tone or a sharp shred tone and even a lo-fi tone (by scooping the bass and cranking the mids) and everything in between.

With the morph knob all the way to the right and the lows dimed, there is a huge low end feedback/resonance that is almost louder than the guitar signal and with the highs boosted theres some white noise but nothing that cant be fixed by a good noise gate. With the lower morph settings feedback is a serious issue since my pickups in my Ibanez Stagestar need to be potted. At low volumes this is not an issue though.

Built out of cast zinc or steel i believe. It has stood up to me pounding on it during gigs and im a relatively big guy (210 lbs. 6'1). It has a non-slip rubber base and foot pad which kinda sucks when ur using it on linoleum floors cause it gets covered in dust and is hard to clean but no gripes there. The knobs feel very solid and shouldnt break anytime soon. I use both the CIT and normal outputs at the same time to run 2 amps (a fender 15G for high end sizzle and a Peavey 140 watt bass combo for crushing low end and it sounds absolutely crushing through this combination.

I play thrash, death metal, industrial metal and even some detuned nu-metal riffs and this pedal has a setting for all of them. Worth every fuckin penny that was spent on it and maybe even more. Would be a little better if it had a built in noise gate like the Ibanez 7th Heaven but that pedal costs $300 here in Canada so it will cost me less to get a Rocktron HUSH or Boss NT-2 with this.

I got it from Sound Control for £75. It would of been £80 but I was a fiver short so the guy took down the price ¬_¬

I was after a heavy metal metallica sounding distortion and i found it in this. It is totally awesome! You can get lovley crunchy distortion or really cutting sharp attack. It has allowed me to emulate metallicas sound excellently and when doubled up with delay, the solos can sound just as good!

Yeah everyones been complaining about the battery life. I agree. I already had an AC adapter for my other pedal so I'm using that right now, so the battery life kinda sux. I would like to be able to switch between the different distortions without having to stop and turn the dials …

I would like to be able to switch between the different distortions without having to stop and turn the dials by hand, but sound wise, its flawless.

The unit is made out of Cast Iron. In other words, it is unbreakable. I have stomped as hard as i can like 10times in a row on it on stage and it just sits there smiling back at you! It comes with a 6 year warrenty so i think that shows you how confident Digitech are that their product WILL NOT break.

I was looking for a metallica crunchy high gain metal sound and this provides it excellently. I wouldnt mind a gain dial but its not really neccesary as the sounds you can get out of it really dont need tweaked much more. Most amps come with a gain dial anyway so its not all that important. It is a little pricier than other pedals but you get what you pay for. The sound and quality of this stomp box is unbeatable in the distortion pedal field.

I paid $80 for mine's at Guitar Center
I bought it bcause i wanted a razor sharp distortion with big sustain for leads and chunky dropped "D" rythim.

The best of this unit has to be the sustain and wild extreme amounts of gain. It has very quiet bypass and it can make any amp even a wimpy little one loud and mean

When i crank the volume on the unit, it looses some of the definition. The distortion tends to be very wild and hard to control at higher volumes. This effect is great for lead, but when two guitars are involved in rythim, it makes the song sound like mud. The left hand side Effect options on the pedal all sound like AM radio. The 12' o clock position is good, the best are 1 and 2 o clock. To take it beyond that is extreme, kinda death metal but horrible when cranked loud.

The quality is excellent but you definitely must conside buying the adaptor. One thing that pisses me off is that the control knobs esily shift positions when transportin the pedal in my pedal board. sturdier knobs would be nice.

The metal pedal is great for lead. Solos sound awsome specially when using a whah or a delay to compliment the distortion. However, if you have two guitars in the band and both are playing dirty rythim, the metal pedal will not be your best friend when it comes to clarity and definition.

I bought this pedal at a House of Guitars in San Antonio for $80.99+tax. I got a discount 'cause I was a student there. I got it 'cause I wanted heavier distortion than my amp's distortion.

NOTHING!!! No, I'm just kiddin'. This pedal is perfect for heavey metal and hard rock. Even punk if you set it a certain way. I really like the "Morph" knob. It can create abunch of different distortion sounds. It's really cool.

The only things I'd change is the color to red, and, I'd want a gain control on it. But everything else is good.

It's made out of metal, I think, so, it's made well. I haven't used it at a gig or anything, but it seems like it'd be okay.

This pedal rox. If you want a good distortion pedal, get this one. The BOSS MT-2 Metal Zone is a good one, too, but you can use the Morph knob to make the MT-2's sound.

    P.S.
Get the adapter! It costs like $25, but if you think about it, you'll go through that much on batteries in a week!(it takes 9 volt batteries, and those aint cheap!) You might be wondering why you'd need to spend that much on batteries, well the pedal goes through a battery faster than you can say Hokey Pokey, a lot of times(about 2 hours). So get the adapter, it's worth the extra money.

I paid 100$ US for it in a shop in Nashville, TN

Damn this pedal has the most gain and the most attack that I have ever heard in a guitar stomp box, set aside maybe the DOD Death Metal, which is less gainy but more crunchy. The Death Metal setting has massive amounts of crunch and sustain and basically just kicks ass.

I don't like everything on the counter-clockwise side of the pedal, distortion just gets shitty and distant sounding.

Built like a rock, drained my first battery in like two hours. Thought maybe they were shitty batteries, bought some better ones, loaded it and they lasted like one hour and a half. BUY AN ADAPTOR!!!

I bought this pedal at Guitar Center cuz i wanted a distortion pedal that will pretty much do anything... It was like 80 bucks.

What I like is the wide range of sound you get out of it. This thing has a very wide variety of distortion. This thing can get your emo punk metal sound truly. Plus I like the 6 year warranty if you register.

The battery lasted around 2 hours then I decided to buy an adapter. The sound is a lil crunchy and heavy but due to its wide variety i can adjust it to where i like it.

I haven't tried smashing this thing, or tried stomping it in hard, but I would say its decent.

I order it through Musician's Friend and paid 89.99

I had only about an hour with it before it broke. It sounded very good with exacly the tone I was looking for while it lasted.

Like I said earlier I had it for at most an hour when it just plain stopped working, the battery was brand new and I tried others so it wasn't that. I think it had something to do with the switch mechanism. I was very disappointed.

    JUNK

I would not buy another bases on my experience with this one's quality.

I bought this for myself at Guitar Center in East Brunswick, NJ. I paid $89.99 plus tax.

This is a stomp box with a bonus -- a morph knob. This feature takes the settings you have, and helps you vary them further. Through this pedal, you can range from light distortion that goes great with palm muting, a mid distortion that is great for high toned solo's, and then an amazingly deep yet crunch packing distortion reminiscent of 80's hair bands. This is an exceptional pedal, comparable to pedals that are 4 or 5 times the price. Digitech knows what they are doing, and this pedal proves it.

Well, with the great variables in tone and control this pedal offers, I constantly find myself wanting to be able to have presets. It make become more of a workstation at that point, but that would make it simply over the top.

This pedal can take a beating. I have not had one problem with this unit on stage or at home. The batteries last longer, and don't start to fade early as they tend to in Ibanez or Boss pedals I have used. Alone, the lever action on the pedal surpasses any expectation i had for such a low-priced pedal. I would have no qualms paying twice as much for a pedal of this quality.

This pedal simply blew me away. My faith in Digitech is doubled, and i highly recommend this pedal to anyone looking for reliable distortion.

I bought is used from my friends brother for 20 bucks.

The distortion is amazing, especially when yuo crank up the morph. If your into death metal, even thrash metal it is perfect for you.

if you have the morph cranked up and try to play a solo on high notes it sounds crappy.

its a tough little thing, it can hurt you!!!!!!

Its a great pedal for ROCKERS, i wouldnt consider playing punk on it cause its too heavy for that, metallica sounds great on it.

I have banged and jumped on it soooo much, and it barely even has a scratch. I just don't like the fact that I have been trying to replicate that authentic Korn sound and this didn't really give me all the low-end rattle, crunch and thud. It tottally craps out if the bass is up! But if you just want a good bang for the buck (in distortion) this is the way to go!

Like I said, I weigh quite a bit more than itand I have stomped it, dropped it, even accidentally stepped on it at concerts. It looks like a high-end, studio-quality effect that costed 200 bucks!!!

If you are a new player, or if you want some good distortion (like Metallica, Pantera, Black Label Society, ect.) it is worth every penny!

The morph nob is okay but compared to the mt-2 that lets you mess with the frequency of the mid this nob blows. The boss you can get a nice mid sound and then set the frequency. With the metal master you just get one mid sound which mid can either make or break your sound. So the freceuncy nob makes a big difference. And also the mt-2 has a drive nob incase you dont need full blown volume on the distortion and want some chrous or another effect to flow through the distortion.

Solid as every pedal should be. No problems with construction of this unit.

Its a good pedal and has a good sound. But if your looking to do fear factory, mesghuaga (however you spell it, NIN, Slayer or anything that might have a really really low end sound you should get an boss mt-2 cause that pedal can replicate the metal master plus add to the sound.
