« Very good but expensive »
Published on 05/06/13 at 23:33Analog bass pedal true-by
Three buttons: volume, drive, tone
1 small switch for three different contours: neutral to left, bumped in the middle (boost mediums), scooped right (medium dug)
FX has a link that allows theoretically enable or disable another pedal at the same time (I am not using this stuff)
Simple and effective. On this kind of pedal, and at this price, I regret that there is no more EQ settings.
Note that the power is Boss type 9V or 18V on the same entrèe: I have not tried the 18V.
Wired by hand in the USA, with serial number handwritten (the claaaaaasssse) comes in a nice cardboard box with a foam that protects well.
UTILIZATION
Well it's very simple, you plug it sounds. All positions provide an excellent sound. The quality is absolutely perfect: quality switches, toggle button without "click", it breathes.
Rather, it draws on the purple, she is very beautiful on a pedalboard.
Its format is mini, ridiculous power consumption which is great: you can l (with a power brick and a power input of Boss-type without worry.
No need for manual obviously.
SOUND QUALITY
So this is where we will discuss a bit.
I am quite clear: it sounds for sure. It can range from mild distortion and clean, with a hi-gain distortion drooling. In fact the "Tone" button is a real tone, ie it makes its own or very open and there it drools a lot.
I will say this is one of the best in the compact class analog. But I can not find her a lamp provided (compared with a Blackstar HT Dual which is a pre-tube amp but weighs 1.2 kg and consumes 22 V).
Matter of taste: it lacks a little low for me and a little compression, so lacks a bit of depth to my ears.
Finally, zero wind, making it a great pedal in terms of game
Here it sounds great but for the price ...
OVERALL OPINION
I bought it because it was one of the most expensive with a compact size, which is important to me. This is probably one of the best in this format.
But strangely, I'm not in love so far despite a very good sound.
I do not know, lack of personality.
Tested on Strat (with humbucker above) and a small amp, I used it a few days and returned because the price / quality ratio is no more than 200 € is too expensive.
I will continue my search for the distortion pedal that will suit me. I've tested the Ibanez Tube King, the Blackstar HT Dual (both excellent but monsters size, weight and power consolidated) Fullbore metal ...
