Ernie Ball is about to launch a now type of guitar strings called M-Steel.
M-Steel strings combine patented cobalt alloy wound strings wrapped around a Maraging Steel hex core wire. Maraging steel is a custom alloy that uses iron, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum and titanium and is usually used for fencing swords, golf clubs and military shielding.
Ernie Ball explains that this special alloy allow for higher resistance, tensile strength, dynamic, gain and clarity. The main goal is to prevent from string breakage.
The strings will be available in five gauges, and will start to ship at the end of August, 2013. The price is still to be announced.
