Gretsch G5420T Electromatic Hollow Body

It was manufactured in the USA. The body and neck are made of maple. it has 2 microphones filtertroh. It has 22 frets

UTILIZATION

The handle is quite nice it is varnish, there is a good grip. The guitar is not too heavy but not too light either, despite the size of Gretsch. We get a good sound with the usual Gretsch sound is really special.

SOUNDS

I use a fender blues amp and a Mustang II. It sounds pretty bad with 2. I appreciate the use of reverb with the treble sound is truly exceptional.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 1 year and a half now. I especially like the crate.

I think the value for money is pretty good.

Electromatic Gretsch made in Korea.
22 frets, rosewood fingerboard.
The table is made of maple with, of course, a Bigsby bridge (B60).
3 positions selector Pickups (Neck-Mixed-Bridge).
The pickups are Filtertrons Blacktop, which is a very large improvement over the G5120 model, which it replaces.

UTILIZATION

The top grip is neither too heavy nor too light. The handle is very comfortable and easily run your fingers on the keys. Access to acute is relatively easy, at least until the 15th fret. The latter, it becomes more fanciful. 5422, double cutaway allows better access to high notes.
The factory strings are as always to change immediately and, I think, for a higher draft. To have tried some of this model before buying, it should be noted that adjustments often wanting. This often frieze on the lower strings.
The finish is very correct, polish nickel. The fittings (especially the knobs) can be improved, but hey, it was made in Korea too.

SOUNDS

The sound is the point to note for this model. To try the 5120, the new pickups Filter-Trons significantly improve the sound of the instrument. More fishing, very round and hot, feels more real Twang type 'Gretsch. "
Surely these more accessible series Gretsch evolve favorably.

Personally, I use it with a Vox AC-30 and it really gives great. Climbing the Top Boost amp and grâcce relatively low output of the Gretsch can perfectly control the attacks ropes. On a Fender Blues Junior, it looks great too.

The three positions of the microphones are varied and allow you to play different styles (blues, rock, rockabilly). This is still not the ultimate versatile guitar and I will return on a Strat to play good Funk. But to use Blues-rock that I have is really nice, typed.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a week and, for the moment, I do not regret this purchase.
I find the correct price. And even if everything is not perfect, this model is actually a Gretsch with these characteristics that made him a legend.
I had tried other type guitars Hollow-Body (Hagstrom Viking, Epiphone Sheraton II) more typical blues, a Duesenberg ... I was convinced by the Gretsch which seemed to me, for this price range, have more character.
I think for my part that FilterTrons are largely responsible for this improvement.
