Thread Cannot hook behringer mixer up to Audigy properly

At the moment, I have a behringer UB502 mixer hooked up to my pc like this:

Tape out (phono) to the line in phono on the back of the audigy box
Tape in (phono) connected to the headphone port using a phono-earphone cable

On my old PC this setup worked, but on my new one, when I push the "tape to mix" button on the mixer, I got a lot of squealing feedback, but only when the volume is above about 15%.

Any ideas of where I'm going wrong?
