I have this microphone for a few months (to replace the neck pickup on my Ibanez QM1 s540FM).
I was looking for a neck pickup powerful and highly accurate. On these two points is the best!

I let you see the features on the site of DiMarzio. You will certainly be surprised by seeing the output level (390 mV for the lazy) is more powerful than a tone zone!

I use it mostly for clean sounds that are beautiful, be it slow or arpeggios for phrass faster! (Combined with a single coil, electro c better than one) and some solo passages or solos (part bluesy or faster).

In short it really is a super micro, powerful, precise, very typical Sir designed for Petrucci (Dream Theater)!
Still, it's not nothing

I play mainly heavy thrash like sepultura, testament, megadeth .... . This microphone is ideal for a quiet little game to play solos or more expressive.

I was tempted by the SH1 or SH2N Seymour but they were less accurate and less powerful nettemant I remake that choice again!

One word of warning: you have a pickup kind powerful enough X2N or SH13 (the one I have!) For an equivalent volume output of your 2 or 3 mics ...

Regarding the price, as usual with DiMarzio is a bit expensive (~ 140) but crying a little you should have a 120
In any case I think it's well worth!

If you think finding a neck pickup with the characteristics prcits, try the DP161, you tell me the news

- How long have you use it?
ca will soon be a year and a half on my beautiful Ibanez JPM P3 ....

What is the particular feature you like best and least?
most: the micro well dug in the middle I like me much spare bcp ca notes and attacks to sound very very vesratile, it gives a much broader Polyval that some of these confrre as paf such pro ....
minimum: wha-wha he whistles open grave because of its level out but with a little technique we control and can make a nice controllable feedback

You've tried many other models before acqurir?
J had evo, tone zone, paf pro, emg, QM2 ..... and frankly it is in my prefried for its transparancy

- How do you report qualitprix?
by searching the net although it can be had for a crumb of bread (this was my case has always blows ^ ^)

Exprience with, you will do again this choice? ...
if I had enough gold coins and I will ride well all my guitars with this dp 161 with different tunings because its color and texture in my dsl 401 makes me really happy to make the most of my technical level in a game of compromise between the rhythmic EASILY heavy heavy net speed and the solos and sharp.

The 9 because I have not yet tested with other tunings, and I do not know his record ^ ^

- What is so special that you like most and least?
To know that I had mounted an Ibanez S520 (supposed to be mid-range) and in the bridge position.
Assets:
-The sound is always clean, even at a gain level not possible, not leave the boil.
-The equation to the proper type in the larger rhythms and solos without one being eaten by the other.
A micro-balance with a good clean and rich in harmonics (it does not go in all directions unless you want).
-The output level that is neither too much nor too little, you can go in quieter styles without spot, and when we need the power, it was.
-The clean, totally unrealistic for a humbucker (and I speak not of the mode split)

Cons:
-The only negative: it does not. Well it may seem strange but as some have pointed out and as I tried to explain my opinion on the PAF Pro, it is so good and at ease throughout the game with him and turns quickly fade unsurprisingly, a bit boring after a while. After maybe if I had reinstalled on a guitar with a violin I better enjoy myself more, but at least now I have to admit myself really fun the first week.

- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
I have a guitar with a PAF Pro in bridge, I tried to scratch in Seymour in EMG, the Evos ... I do not know what else.

I think if you are 100% sure of his shot, it's a good plan, otherwise it can hurt the wallet ...

I think if I get the chance, I would do well with this one little micro scratches, but it is not really a priority, the sound did not seem "irreplaceable" by another micro .. .

I note the 9 / 10, much the same reasons that my PAF Pro, not really a criticism, but no real surprises either, and not a character incredibly unique and impressive ...

What is so special that you like most and least?
sounds clear, highly crystalline, while it is an exceptional mic level output distos sounds very balanced, modern and not at all showy
- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
Ibanez V2 it replaces, Seymour Duncan Invader, Ibanez h2 axis (right), Bill Lauwrence L500 (very good), but not all of them sound as good in his clear, at least not splitted.

How would you rate the quality / price?

Certainly, even if the microphones are inconvenient parts to choose from, so hopefully, the preliminary test is almost impossible, and the choice bloated.
