Why I chose this pack? My old SBLive commenait Seriously, she had no Optical I / O, and no alternative except with ASIO drivers which then deprive us of soundfonts ... at the same time the sounds of my WK-1500 were not enough for me and I wanted numriques sound quality to couple with the analog synth I prvoi buy. So i was first interress by EmulatorX Studio, but for lack of money I look over the new kid nearly ProteusX and ... I craqu!

My system:
KT4V MSI-L (VIA chipset)
Barton 2500+ @ 2.1GHz
1024MB DDR333 SAMSUNG
Win2000 Pro
200GB Seagate HDD

I use ProteusX with Magix Music Studio 2005 standalone connected by MidiYoke (because in a vst train too). Map cohabit a few hours with no problem !, SBLive conflict apparently. I connected my analog mixer and optics on the MD deck, and well on my MIDI keyboard.

For now they are squatting my ddi computer graphics system until I redo a system ddi music, apparently the presence of softwares like 3ds Max or Painter does not interfere all tand and it is better for those who want to do their image.

edit: I have since had several problems of outline map, but in general has to rule fairly easily, see the forum. If not for ProteusX, I also have a big problem that I still have not rgl (but I seem to be the only one in this case): the notes he comes not rguli res at all .... USE

No problem for the installation.

For the 0404 and PatchMix: well i was lost with all these new features, the routing, the Changing the Image with ASIO, and everything ... total change of scenery to the world of SBLive. But will, it's not very complicated actually.

For soft ProteusX itself: The interface was not too difficult to understand sembl, I had never used such a program yet. The only thing I struggled to understand is how to effect.

IMPLEMENTATION

The drivers for the card have me very stable air, we'll see if I always said as much in six months.
edit: 9 and a half months after well ... It's a bit Gnant map that becomes silent time to time ...

This is my first card with ASIO drivers, I find really great! I put 2ms to play a keyboard instrument, and 10ms for projects on several tracks, and I have no crunch.

For sounds, I found a lot of everything, there's a bit of everything and it's pretty good quality in general (but I'm not a connoisseur of all, I am r eng nothing). The drumkits are not exactly what I want but poura be useful occasionally, I think they will appeal especially those who love us hiphop and jazz.

on the other hand I t very trsdu by the famous piano 2CD (by the way I found quite funny the 2nd cd that is only 3MB ...). The sound is so enferm sometimes looks like they have sampl another piece ... you can clearly hear the passage of a vlocit one with some notes on a downright leap accompanied by a change in standard ... to top it off there's breath, and there's a preset with a note out of place ...

I was going to put a good 8+ but I take 1 point for support only from Win2K and WinXp.

I do not withdraw my point problem, since I am the only one to have it.

Possdant only a Creative Audigy ES, I used the drivers for the KX ASIO. Now I had some compatibility problems in some programs. I was looking for a small price and ASIO j'tais interested by an Audigy 2 ZS when I Discoveries EMU 0404 with effect processor Intgr Jack O 6.35. Exactly what I wanted. And seeking advice on the card I Discoveries Proteus X also offers a powerful software synthtiseur supplmentaire for 50 euros: this is a great deal and I cracked.
My hardware: PC Athlon 2600 + on MSI motherboard 1 GB Ram and 160 hard drive (8MB cache)
Synthtiseur Technics SX-WSA1, Boss SE50, sound mixing with Hinsley.

UTILIZATION

The installation is done in several steps since There's drivers, the program Proteus X sound banks, the updates ... Systm is the easiest but passes without problem.
I had no compatibility problems I run under XP SP1.
Gnrale configuration and a bit complex and it is better for a walk on the documentation provided on the CD. This one is more complete but I have not had time to STUDY for all whether it is complete.

GETTING STARTED

After installation of drivers I immediately added the updates and I have no worries as well.
I am using Cubase SX but I have not done anything with him and Proteus X. Using Proteus X 4ms I go down alone (I can not follow in polyphony 2ms)

OVERALL OPINION

It's been only three days that I have but I wanted to give an opinion quickly because they are rare. Overall I think the are real but not enough trs Varis despite the amount. I think by the bank against General Midi not great. I want to return to the piano sound bank with a t dom Dj assz critical unlike what it sounds There are several piano sounds and I have not any breath. I have even found it quite good. It is somewhat difficult to compare a real piano but compared to other synthtiseur I think he is doing well trs. So I found a lment comparison with my Technics piano sound is superb for a camera in 1996.
On the report quality price EMU has done something fantastic and it is clear that I do not regret my purchase. J'espre able to find other sound banks to see what the Proteus X is still in the wind because they provided, without being bad, are incompltes, especially hip hop east.

One title! Protus and Emu! has been a long time I wanted that sound, a remarkable reputable in the music.

Drivers conflicting ingrables unstable, my SB audiguy was much better and yet has not n'tait Lumire.

OVERALL OPINION

I love nothing in it! There seems to be hard on a beautiful sound and a EHJV serious, but that is as unstable and this mixer that mixes what he wanted. O is the hardware?
everything has not sound, sound books are the likes of Audiguy, and cover only a third of need: a lot of batteries, a few big bass piano and small violins, instruments g Gm nriques noon without sound card type intrt 20euro. In fact, it is the sound banks I was interessted X (not those that are delivered with bof), by the way I bought the Mo'Phatt with X which is not bad at all.
The characteristics of the card 0404 are nice. 24/96 and analog and digital full and cheap.

My config is P4 3.8GHz, 1GB mem.
The card is plugged directly into my Yamaha console MX12.4
I found good converter, without breath or background noise and the dynamics are very good, even in 44.1. It's clean.

UTILIZATION

No problem to install the card and drivers, updating the site with updates EMU.
Proteus side, impossible to update to the newest version 1.51, the update does not work. I am in contact with the support EMU for 15 days, they are unable to explain why ...

GETTING STARTED

ASIO's side, everything is nickel. Very low latency <7ms with no problems. That's perfect.

Side Windows, DirectX WDM & there is a concern: in some cases the sound is cut and PatchMix does not receive anything. Impossible for example to start a recent game with this card, you will not have a fast enough! Bugs also with certain applications or other audio WinAmp style ...
You may say that it does not matter since we are not on AudioFanzine and jeuvideo.com but hey, anyway, I get angry ca. So I left my old Yamaha sound card that works well in DirectX to another input of the console.
The bug is known and referenced in EMU, and the latest drivers do not correct the pb.
Response support EMU: We are aware of this issue, and are working on a fix. (NOTE: Will not be in 1.72 as Not Enough Time)

Other things that annoy me:
* Protection System (C-Dilla service system) which must also be started for the Proteus works. This is not documented so do not presume to disable this thing in trying to optimize your system.
* CTHelper the program remains in memory at all times even when you have finished the registration.
* The software conversion / import seems to have been developed on a corner table in 10 minutes: conversion function converts in its own way let's say, with results that are far enough from the original format ...

In summary,
* Hard side, the card is fine and would be perfect if she could run in Windows as well as ASIO and with a soft import / export reliable.

I was looking for an audio interface simple, entry-level to the MIDI composition. CHARACTERISTICS of the E-MU 0404 intgre trs are rich for the price and bundled software INTERESTED: ProteusX, PatchMix, Cubase LE, Sonar LE 4, Live 4 LE, Amplitube LE ...

It lacks a microphone input (no prampli) and a headphone output for monitoring (only one analog output).

I use a keyboard with E-MU XBoard 49 on a Windows XP config (2.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD + 80).

UTILIZATION

Trouble-free installation with the latest software package (October 2005). CAUTION: Some distributors do not yet have the new software offering in December 2005. If you buy a pack ProteusX must vrifier software provided and ask your dealer put their day (the new pack includes Cubase LE and Sonar LE).

The configuration and use of PatchMix is ​​quite difficult despite the complete manual trs (in French on CD-ROM, grrr!). As ProteusX is a factory gas! The features are rich and evolve but the interface is simple to use. Many manipulations could be simplified.

GETTING STARTED

No problem running, no bug or crash for the moment, no use of system resources EXAGRES.

The drivers are often updated and new features are included.

For now, I use Cubase ProteusX: it is a good duo.

Audio processing by the DSP card amliore your exact significantly.

Sound banks are provided trs Ingals: good pianos and percussion, some guitars INTERESTED (especially bass) and ProteusX Composer for electro. It's a bit lightweight, but there are other banks E-Mu. Shame that the GUI is so frustrating!

OVERALL OPINION

ProteusX I use (and thus the card 0404) for 2 months.

I love its rich CHARACTERISTICS for a floor price. But the ergonomics of the interface is not optimized, especially for a public solution. Missing tutorials to use the sounds in the software provided (except Live 4) and for the use of paramtres banks.

Ct hardware, not to say the sound is perfect!

Even if this package has default, its price can s'quiper well and make his weapons before placing the hardware more powerful, especially since the new software offering is excellent (Cubase LE , Sonar, Live LE, Amplitube ...).

- What technical specifications motivated your choice?
A sound card more than correct (analog input / output and numriques, noon) + a = 149 with Virtual Expander software offer a complte trs. I have not found better.

I use the course for mao with a lot of instrumentals (virtual minimoog, the Proteus, ...) I speak as an amateur and this card performs its role trs. My config to be brief: AMD 1.6 GHz 512MB RAM

UTILIZATION

The installation I had no worries this is not the time to rail against a hardware disk overload when you have a program in any genre synonymous with conflict. I encountered no bugs or other, my position as strictly music from the pressing next and that's it ... (or nearly so).

So I like this card because E-MU has offered me an expander that I love: You have a bank prs with 2 GB of sounds in all genres of strings and leads hyper plans, kits Dynamic battery trs, trs few good pianos (pop rock and piano) and bass dcoiffent that even if I use them soon.

E-MU has trs fort I think. Obviously the beginners that did not seem empty but it is a compromise because APRS it is hard to find the default set. Of course all this sounds trs on synthetic sounds and sound effects must be measured 149 but do not push it.

I save no more than 3 or 4 virtual instrumnts most often and my latency is 15ms while nickel is, I can perhaps do more but I did not try below 10ms card dcroche though my pc boost is not enough then there is the doubt. I am the good guinea pig I think E-MU has a screw clientle prcise well with this product therefore use this card like mine ^ ^ brings satisfaction must not push too much either ...

OVERALL OPINION

Bought in June 2005 ... I know too now my sound card is Premire her and I still love it, I'm home (red). DCID I post because I read the small stupid things about her, I mean for beginners is one of the best offers on the market if not the best, the coming of the 2nd version only strengthens that impression. Tural a product without competition.
In one sentence it is clear: we can start the computer music with this card's offer since the software comes with Cubase VST + + wavelablite the proteus and your nice card with its PatchMix (a bit hard to beginners ), which allows numerous settings (rglages tract, space stro, monitor, effects ,...) few critical updates have no justification (try a product a journ e, I do not like it, so I will post a notice on AudioFanzine m **** e).

I dont think there is anything missing. You get plenty of sounds and everything. You have the ability to edit your sounds and change things. Its well setup and very user friendly.

I used it through fruity loops as a VST. I had no problems with it being difficult to use. All you do is open it as the VST pick your sound and go to piano roll. Very simple.

GETTING STARTED

Good quality. The program is fine. But if your computer isnt up to date and upgraded then you will run into trouble with it because your computer wont be able to handle it. But If have to give it a 9 instead of 10 because I did have to have my computer upgraded for it.

The strongest point of the desktop module was the good strings. everything was very sweet soundin. Its great for your strings, brass, and drums. If you are looking for sound module software, this is your bread and butter.

OVERALL OPINION

I liked it but it dont deserve above an 8 because i had to have work on my computer and after I messed with it for a while and tried the sounds, I wasnt very very impressed. But i was happy with it and I will recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting it.

Sounds are great. Strong in the string department, weak in the keys department. But prodct is what it said it was, a desktop version of proteus 2000.

High quality product, I have no doubts that I will not have any problems with this product in the future

OVERALL OPINION

I have a love hate relationship with this product but mostly love. I just hate that the sounds take a little longer than I want them to when loading up. But after load up, it's all love!!!
