Neumann TLM 170 is a great condenser microphone for use in the recording studio, do not use this for live performances or you will be unsatisfied . This is a mic that you will be hearing more about as time passes. I was skeptical at first with Neumann but after experimenting with it, I couldn’t have asked for more. Not to mention it comes with a stand/swivel mount. The Neumann TLM 170 records at an excellent quality, it’s a little expensive but you don’t want to take any shortcuts when it comes to the microphone. This is what people hear, Vocals: so they have to be crystal clear, and the Neumann TLM 170 does that.

The Neumann TLM 170 is just what you need in your home setup and exactly what you want to hear when it comes to condenser microphones. After all there are so many microphones too choose from, but this is one that every engineer should be shooting for in their setups either in a major studio or a home studio. It records crystal clear vocals as well as live instruments. Well we recorded some guitar and horns with it. Couldn’t have asked for more, it was perfect quality. I would choose this mic any day for vocal recording, but It lacks with live performance so keep it out of those situations and you are going to be a happy customer. Keep in mind that this is a very pricey mic, but we all know you get what you pay for. So if you pay for great quality: you will get great quality. I this mic picks up no air and has an extremely smooth response to it. It can record different pitches of vocals very crisp and clean with no popping.. Definitely save to get this mic, its well worth it..

The Neumann TLM 170 is a large diaphragm condenser microphone for use in the recording studio only. It's definitely going to be seen more in professional studios, but it would also be an awesome all purpose mic for a larger home studio as well. The mic has five different pick up patterns to choose from, including cardioid, omni, hypercardiod, wide angle cardioid, and figure eight. It's also got a - 10 db pad and low roll off switch as well. The mic comes with it's own unique sort of swivel mount for holding the microphone in place.

OVERALL OPINION
The Neumann TLM 170 is exactly what you'd think it would be - a super high quality condenser microphone. I've only used it on a handful of occasions, but every time I have I've been impressed with the sound. I've only tried it on vocals, which I do believe is what it's bested suited for. It's got a smooth response and picks up an incredible amount of detail, with a whole lot of depth as well. I did a few sessions as a freelance assistant engineer at a studio that had this mic, and that's the only place I've ever used it. I hope that I can get some more gigs there again, as everyone on the sessions agreed that the results were awesome. It's a bit different sounding than something like a U87, although I would probably rather have a U87 since it's probably a little bit more versatile. However, if I were going for just a vocal mic, the TLM 170 would definitely be the choice. The mic certainly costs a pretty penny, but could certainly be worth it in a professional studio environment. Neumann is known for good reason as the best in making high quality studio condensers, and the TLM 170 is a perfect reason why...

Multi-static
NOTICE GLOBAL
-two years
Natural _trs, multidirectif, not too large, on numerous sources comfortable
- Not the "nose" of the 103, KM184, 87 (although cel be interesting to some sources): super on wood winds, strings rub or classical guitar
-Neumann: U87,89,103,184,84 AKG C414 and solid tube, AT 4050 and 4033, Oktava M012, Rone NT1 and Classic, Shure KSM44 ...
-10/10 Class of natural Neumann, lightweight, multidirectional: a modern 89?
-Yes: I sold a 414 for this one: I like this mic but Tlm is over: Detailed thinner and without the nose of the capsule 103 quipant

Hey Music
Uu versatile and super micro unknown
Published on 08/20/12 at 10:27 (This content has been automatically translated from French)C is a condenser microphone transistor Neumann. C is solid, well built and is quite spartan as always with Neumann.
A low cut and-10db pad + selector directivity. All directional key are there, cardioid to omni, at 8, etc ...
Nothing more.
It can be attached to the mic via a fixed ring, or using a suspension standart kind U87 /
OVERALL OPINION
I tested a lot of microphone to record my voice, U87, U47, M149, Royer, and ... thereof.
It was almost the cheapest in comparison, and it is one that has worked for me immediately. Like what, you should always try to darken rather than the classic head down.

This mic is actually quite "dull". The highs are very sweet, even a little behind. This works perfectly on a voice slightly nasal wheezing like mine. Ditto on brass, guitar amp, etc. ...
on the other hand it may run out of air a voice to Norah Jones or a classical guitar but it evens out very easily. Like a ribbon mic.
It is a micro goes everywhere that reacts very well in environments with a bit crappy (resonances, aggressiveness), unlike a M149 which requires perfect acoustics to maximize. He plays in the same league as the U87 (it is also at about the same price new)
In short, a very good microphone, not always given as Neumann, built to last for years, and perfect for anyone who wants to make the sound work in an environment not necessarily fully optimized.
