A condenser microphone simple and comprehensive, discreet, 5 directional, two choices of low-cut filter (80 and 160 Hz) an attenuator,
OR double laminae, exit 3-pin XLR,

* Significantly smaller than the U87 (see photo) is also less colorful, less vivid, more neutral, more evident.
with the TLM 170 microphones are the two most versatile of the brand, they are also necessarily what are the most simple model under some personalities exacerbated in the good or less good way ... (U87Ai, M147 ...)
Output in 1980

OVERALL OPINION

An excellent microphone, with nice bass, an acute and a medium soft enough precise and gentle
I like a lot the simplicity that emerges dynamic, personal property and that serious!
very realistic on solo strings, guitars, vocals back in, it is close enough to the AKG C414Eb, taken for its more than fifty cm, in terms of close miking taken, I prefer the U89i more homogeneous and easier to insert in a mix.

What is troubling with the U89, it is this sense of ease in making, this does not mean that one should not work on his investment, but it makes some mistakes that are often fatal with sensors and other types TLM 103 Rode .. .
I highly recommend this microphone in a relationship with a good preamp, then it is an extreme versatility.
If you do not need the five directional, the TLM193 is the cardio version of the TLM 170 is very close to the timbre of U89i, not so sweet!

in string solos, it is beautiful in a little bow in Floux pizza or KM 74,75,84,85,86 them will return this part of the best games.
it is one of good sensors of the mark (it is also shorter than those mentioned I do not like Neumann (KM 184 and M147)!)
