I haven't used the AKG Perception 820 Tube all that much, but I've used it a number of times in different situations and I can confidently say that this is a very good microphone. While this doesn't have the same warmth that a Neumann tube microphone or other high end tube mic will have, it still has a very warm sound and is good for a number of different applications. The first thing that I used the Perception 820 for was a grand acoustic piano. I used a pair of them to get a stereo picture of an acoustic piano and found that this microphone did a great job of doing this. I could hear everything quite clearly while at the same time there was a thick and warm feeling to it. The next time that I used the AKG Perception 820 Tube was for an acoustic guitar and then I used it one other time for vocals and I was definitely happy with the overall sounds that I was getting. I love having so many different pick up patterns as it makes the microphone extremely versatile. The price of this microphone is definitely reasonable for a tube microphone of this quality and in my opinion is a very good deal for a home studio owner looking to get a very nice sounding tube microphone at a budget price. The AKG Perception 820 Tube is the perfect in between tube microphone for those who can't afford a great deal of money but still want a very useful and versatile tube microphone.

studio 5eme monde's review (This content has been automatically translated from French)" Micro very soft and musical"
I use it for 2 years and a half and I spend more with vocals or acoustic guitar or violin made. This mic is very sweet I love ...
I can tell you that in some cases I prefer the Neumann U87 especially for female voices.
Changing the lamp is not excessive, the lamp 20 euros you can do it yourself.
Here is a link to listen to a recording made with this microphone and derière SSL and SSL converter prémpli.

pierrotlepiednoir's review (This content has been automatically translated from French)" micro extraodinaire!"
Designed hardware with a finish ultra careful, trs sturdy and beautiful Aesthetics
This microphone is a microphone that excels premium in decision-making voice and gentle string instrument like the guitar, violins, bass flutes and other wind instruments rather soft, but its main function is the voice or what is the micro dchire the most! for singing
it provides warmth and DEFINITIONS ultra prcise voice in a mix is not really need much Galis or retouch the sound is so pure and beautiful, to me it surpasses the TLM 102 of in Neuman or AKG 414 which tends to be too sharp and brilliant especially in fine voice, the warmth of vintage lamps gives a warm and soft cot your catch
I highly recommend anyone looking for the quality!

Stekoss's review (This content has been automatically translated from French)" Not bad at all"
I just bought it a week ago, that's why I'm gonna put a short notice that I will complete later.
I tried many mics, the AKG Perception 100 which is the bottom line but also the AKG C414 BXLII, Neumann U87 and U89, AEA R84 ...
I used it on an acoustic guitar .... and frankly it sounds!
I placed it about 25cm of the strings at the resonance box level, it gives a sound with tremendous depth where we hear all the details. Unlike a U87, it's a less neutral and more colorful sound with a natural pleasant warmth.
Sold in a small suitcase with it's control box and suspension but .... Made in China ....
For now I think it´s very good value for money but, like I said, haven't bought it long ago, so I surely re-post another review later.
