DigiTech JamMan Solo

This is Digitech's smallest of their new line of JamMan Looper series pedals. You can record 35 minutes worth of mono CD quality loops over 99 presets. The upper models offer stereo. With an additional memory card you can store even more loops and presetes. It accepts the same standard SDHC memory cards as a camera or portable device.

I bought this to help me practice some ideas. I record chord progressions and play ideas over them. It has really helped my creativity for soloing.I bought this new online for $200.

I can connect this to my computer via a USB cable and edit my settings through the software that came with the pedal.

The software is called JamManager JamMan library. It works with both PC and Mac computers.

Also the unit came with a power supply.

It will take some getting used to, to find where you put your loops and how to pull them up etc. The upper line of pedals is a bit more user-friendly, but for the price it's a cool pedal.

Well built. Solid box, jacks, knobs and power.

Loop pedal mono channel. overcharged solid, although once I broke the small piece of soft plastic which presses the contact. but I tinkered unb new cutting sole nikel old and it works again.

UTILIZATION

super simple to use, a bam, it saves a second bang, the loop runs, another bang it saves a second loop above. Two sausages serve, stop it. A big bang and it disappears and leaves.

Only Downside. Only works on sector and it is a bit boring.

Review:
The case is metal slightly glittery midnight blue, as all models in the range. The switch is convenient, all setting buttons are molded plastic and inspire confidence.
The display is readable.
There is an SD card slot, but it is impractical because it requires disassembling the switch: -1

UTILIZATION

# The general configuration is it simple?

Review:
Intuitive if only one is used to playing with a looper, otherwise it&#39;s easy, it takes the hand quickly.
The dual pressure switch to stop recording makes it difficult (if not impossible) for use on stage. The transition from one loop to another requires to bend and manipulate the pedal (with the hand so).
It&#39;s quite usable but knowing that Digitech loopers built in recent decades, we would have appreciated a little more innovation in the use.



SOUND QUALITY

# The effects are they effective, responsive and realistic enough?
The sound is not overeating. No more than the Jamman classic, no less either. It&#39;s clean but still feel there&#39;s a little something missing in the dynamic but your audience will not hear the difference.
Note that it supports a large number of overdub the sound is really "dirty". Personally, I recorded a dozen overdubs without worries. Must only take care to correctly set the output level of the loop.

# Which instruments do you use?
Guitar, bass, drum. I put it in the loop of my preamp for a more "transparent" and more efficient.


# Which ones you prefer, you hate?

I therefore take this matter to return the software JamManager.
This app is already not very nice, quite austere. It handles a lot of things: tags, listening loop computer directly into the app, export and import loop works fine, no worries, the UNDO and REDO. Short, ugly but ultimately well thought ...
Except that impossible to do multiple actions. Basically, if you have 99 loops on your Jamman that you want to save on your computer, you will need for each of them, do an export, it is not possible to export any block. Prepare to spend time to "Selecting the loop, right click, export" as many times as you loop. It&#39;s stupid but it&#39;s a shame.

Review:
Equal to jamman classic, here too, I&#39;m a little disappointed. The product is intrinsically good but I expected better.
The app is well thought out but needs to spend some time for backups actions that should be very simple.

Less than a year.

# What is special that you like most and least?
I like:
- The easy handling,
- No confusing who owned a Jamman Classic
- Support SD card.

I like:
- The software "JamManager"
- No use at improvements compared to classical
- The location of the SD card,
- The need to change FS3X loop at the foot which is not given.

# Did you try many other models before buying it?
I had the Jamman Classic, an Akai Head Rush (much worse in looper because it is ultimately mostly a delay). Finally, the classic is not much bigger and gave me a much better memory.

# How would you rate quality / price ratio?
Good enough. It is quite expensive (> € 150) for a product that has absolutely no need of R & D at Digitech since they are basically a "compact" classic.

# With experience, you do again this choice?
Yes, but I sold it because I realize that for my use (work loops without the need to import / export), the looper of my Zoom G3 enough.

Review:
Ideal for working at home, the Jamman Solo is a good product ... which could have been better if Digitech had pushed a little further research in this area.
Anyway, it does its job, does it very well and is very "user-friendly".

The JamaMan solo a USB connection and SD card reader, which is convenient because suddenly it&#39;s a bit the best of both worlds: it can be used directly to trigger the recording of a grid Okay, but on the other hand if you want to do something more sophisticated we can prepare a tape to the computer and then copy it on the map. So in this respect the JamMan is extremely versatile.

The advantage of the Boss RC2 looper kind is that it has a capacity of almost infinite (actually no, it is finished but needs far beyond normal use XXX minutes total) and above you can save these loops copying files on an SD card (or copying them in the memory of the pedal connected via USB to the Mac.
Concretely, this means that one is not limited to the live recording, which is very convenient to work a "backing track" fished elsewhere.


There are rather intended for the stage, others rather intended for the house, the Jamman Solo is part of the second category (home)

Ergonomics is not too bad given the little space it says it lacks a clear on / off button. To stop must disconnect the power cord that borders on anything.

There are a host of functions, and therefore a little time to adapt / learn.
The doc is pretty well done (downloadable in French on the Digitech site)

Connection software is not a Wonderland ergonomics but it works and most importantly it puts pedal to date in case of need (just for that you need to connect at least once a maze to a computer)


SOUND QUALITY

The sound is rather transparent (I write "more transparent" because I&#39;m not a sound engineer and this is a very personal feel. Basically I see no difference between the direct connection and the guitar-amp connection jamman guitar-amp

This is important because as the Jamman has no off button is switched on all the time we&#39;re used or not (the guy who forgot the off button is still a sacred andouille)

Function side there is everything one would expect from this kind of thing and above all the ability to record loops elsewhere ("elsewhere" = on Mac) that anything is possible.
This option can also have fun sounds.
The looper record what comes out of the guitar, that is to say, it is before the amp and the sound is so clean.
It is impeccable to play such pieces with two guitars.
If you want, for example, play a solo clear sound on a grid of agreements with the saturation, you must place a distortion pedal before the looper, then disable it when playing.

OVERALL OPINION

In practice it is a little gizmo very convenient to work at home. We can even work without headphones amp by plugging headphones into the output of the pedal, but then there is the sound without interest, provided that the Jamman does not feed on area there so can not serve as a tool nomad
