« Gibson had better watch out! »
Published on 11/03/12 at 11:15I will not go on the characteristics of the well-known model whose production was stopped a few years ago already. Mine dating from March 2008, produced at the factory so China Qingdao (not Daho)! I bought used in late 2009 on a classifieds site well known. Synonymous with "excellentangle. Fr" Heh heh ... The guy did not have his property in a very long time. A year at most ... She was in excellent condition at that.
UTILIZATION
Like any self-respecting Les Paul. The profile is quite round and thick. Just head on Epiphone's not really my cup of tea but is not inherently ugly either! And then I got used ...
SOUNDS
I just equip P 90 Gibson whatsoever and without a real transformation, there is a better. The original P90 pickups are Epiphone which were already pretty good. This guitar is known among other things for it, which is rare in Epiphone. This is often the pickups and electronics are the Achilles heel of this trademark. Then wiring level is impressive. Some cables are assembled with plug connectors. I had never seen it!
With Gibson P90 was a higher level of output and an even more clear and precise. Sustain impressive musicality and huge. It meets all nuances of the game A TREAT!
I could compare it with a "real" Gibson Les Paul Gold Top in the mid 70s and frankly, level violin, the Epiphone is a comparison without worry. Gibson Humbucker was equipped, not P90 and what is more, it was the Bare Knuckle output level result. To compare the sound, it was more difficult, but despite that, the Epiphone did not blush. So you can imagine now with Gibson P90!
I mounted GHS Guitar Boomers strings 11-53 in order to regain the same voltage as the 10-52 that I use on long forks. I struggled to find elsewhere this game Thanks Herr Tho ... It's actually a game expected to agree in Eb or RE. I settled with onions. I filed down the nut over disagreements nuisance problems due to a too narrow saddle. Typical of this type of head, leaving the strings through the nut to the mechanical, especially those in the middle, and RE SOL. Also setting the tone with a very personal method for the accuracy and compensation of individual small frets on the Tune-O-Matic. I never had a guitar just as well set. This is BY-DONE! Since then I have applied this method to my other guitars and it does it well. I tell you perfect intonation.
Level look, I changed the buttons for speed-knob gold match at that great with the gold color of the table and a vintage button micro switch amber. Little but it makes the changes and close the inspiring mother.
OVERALL OPINION
This is one of my favorite guitars. And yet this is not the most expensive, quite the contrary. And yet I have some that a "real" Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion. It is great too. Bullets 11,000 paid at the time in 1982, almost € 2000, 30 years ago anyway! But excellent guitar Gold Top Epi her father is a candle without worry and without flinching! Attention The Howard Roberts is a half box ...
Warmth, musicality, sustain ... In Blues, Rock, Jazz, Fusion, etc.. Bomb this guitar. A question arises, why pay 10 times more expensive?
