Ibanez ART100

Ibanez ART100Published on 09/27/11 at 15:00
The latest model from the Artist series, the ART100 was recently awarded one of the best bang for your buck single cuts. It gives you a nice Les Paul sound with a little more playability.

I demo'd this for about an hour at my local music shop through a Mesa Boogie 1x12 combo. For $299 I gotta say I was diggin on it. I played 3 of them and the quality was very even with them all.

It features the same pickups that you'll find in the Artcore series of Ibanez, so they aren't rip your head off screaming, but they can do the fat clean tone and a nice metal crunch.

The neck was a Les Paul shape, yet it wasn't a total baseball bat like some are.

The strap buttons have a nice fat end on them. No need for strap locks unless you are doing some crazy stunts.

I wasn't a fan of the 12th fret inlay. I would have picked simple inlay dots, but hey, I can live with it.

Although 22 frets is plenty, I was sort of hoping Ibanez would've given it a 24 fret neck like most of their other guitars.

I really liked the dark red finish, the other finishes are very bold though; silver, white and a very eye-popping blue. I would suggest seeing these colors in person before ordering them online.

The body is mahogany and it is a set neck design, yes a set neck for under $300! I learned the bridge was made and designed by Gibraltor, the same company that makes drum stands and racks.

Definitely should be considered. I haven't played too many other single cuts for $300 that played/sounded this nice!

Ibanez's take on a LP

Ibanez ART100Published on 08/10/11 at 14:16
Ibanez has long tried to tap into the Les Paul style market, and they've had varying success. Some of the really old pre-lawsuit Ibanez guitars are killer, but after that, they never quite captured the essence of what a Les Paul really is. This guitar kinda gets there, but it's not perfect. The guitar has a mahogany body, a mahogany set neck with a rosewood fretboard, 22 jumbo frets, a unique inlay on the 12th fret, a hard tail bridge, two humbuckers, two volumes, one tone and a three way switch.

UTILIZATION

The first thing you notice is that the guitar feels nice and light. This is a pretty good thing as most heavy guitars are just dead weight more than anything else. The fretwork on this was pretty nice, and I was able to get some good action with this. The nut had no issues when it came to tuning, so I was able to bend to my heart's content. I'm not a huge fan of hard tail bridges, and these types of bridges are generally a bit tough on my hand, but I could live with it. The inlay didn't have any heavy fillers, and that's a good thing as it helps show the talent of the Ibanez crew. Aside from that, it's your average Ibanez.

SOUNDS

The guitar sounds fatter than a normal Ibanez and a normal Les Paul. LPs are known to have maple tops, and they help extend the treble range on these. This is darker than a normal Les Paul. However, the pickups installed in this aren't that great. The bridge is decent, but you can't get a lot of clarity like you can with some of the high end Duncans and DiMarzios. It worked alright for metal, but anything else was pretty lacking. The neck pickup wasn't that great, either. It sounded muddy, and I was struggling whenever I tried to play leads with it.

OVERALL OPINION

The guitar is a pretty good guitar for those looking to get a solid instrument made out of mahogany. It's very similar to a Les Paul Special in certain ways, but it still has that classic Ibanez touch to it. If you're into these kinds of guitars, check it out. You might be surprised.

The handle is slightly raised making it easy access to acute ... So acute is easily accessible (of course there are much better but we reached the 22nd fret with no problems even he could there be a 23rd that it does not Generais at play: D)

I love this new form! A kind of Singlecut that goes well with the rest of the body! Mmmm good if not the weight ... I saw lighter but hey you just wear it long without tiring lol!

For sound bah I like it a lot! As we get good clean sounds it attacks it! I play with a Korg pedal! I tried with other guitars it gives not the same It is very versatile! It's also comes from my pedals but on a normal amp nothing to say the sound is nickel ^ ^ (I play Satriani and Hendrix also love the blues )

Anyway for those who would like not scratching the sound of that they can still mess with the amps or pedals;)

SOUNDS

As I say I have a Korg pedal which allows me to have a maximum sound! I resolve not to my gis therefore sounds I really no problem! Once again it gives a nice clean sound a little bland but ti all hot! In any case in the 350th scratching you find it with great personality: D

Nan's is seriously good!

If not with the bridge pickup gives treble that send good and then just slammed as lens you see what ... ^ ^
With both pickups sound bah is rather fat (not really I know not well defined ...)
And finally with the microphone of the handle Aie Aie Aie bass are really fat! in fact I was quite surprised! It could very well be used for the large metal!

OVERALL OPINION

In fact I use it only for a few weeks but I am very pleased with this guitar! With the sounds I have no problem as I have the treble and bass like them ... bah xD I like this much fat, too!
The look is really good too!
Otherwise it has a little superfluous kg which is a little regrettable especially in ti XD Ibanez! It would have been perfect if lighter!
Well if I play blues / rock fusion and all sgenre of stuff and it suits me to do! it is really good!
The price / quality ratio is pretty good!
I tried a few and cort ibanez price a little lower than that of ART100 and good ... was not the same thing ^ ^
So vala! Buy this guitar lol
