Hi,
I've heard that mics for the bass drum wear out easily, so I'm hesitating to buy a descent one for a high price (I'm low on cash). Instead I'm wondering if ANY sort of budget (around $60 or under?) mic would do the job, and if so what mics do you recommend?

Cheers,
Stan

On that budget I would go on up to a Shure SM57. Not meant for the kick, but it can be used, and is also the most versatal mic you can get. Great for most any instrumentation, and should be able to be gotten for around $80. Well worth the step up in price.
