The M audio Ozone is a very small and compact midi keyboard that will sync up with your program even if there isn’t a preset config for it, you can just use generic controller. It has plenty of knobs that you can assign to what you want to assign them to. The pitch and mod will are pretty good for such a cheap (price) keyboard. Most of the keyboards in this price range are really plastic and the mod and pitch wheels are really stiff. The M Audio Ozone is that bad though .


UTILIZATION

Installation is as easy as it gets, just plug it in and put the disk In and you are good to go. Set it up in your software and start using it right away. You can set the knobs and sliders to do whatever you want them to do, you don’t have to follow whats printed on the keyboard itself.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, a great midi keyboard. Its very small and compact so you can put it in your laptop case and take it anywhere with you. I have used it on a plane before flying coach and we all know how small planes are with elbow room! Its very light and easy to use, nothing special with it. The price is great exactly what you would want to play for a similar product. There really isn’t much difference between this and lot of other midi boards that are similar. They all do the same thing, until you start getting into the bigger full size midi keyboards and you will see they can do a lot more and have way nicer feeling keys than this one does. They keys on this one are kinda “toyish” though. Real stiff and plastic like, but they will loosen up after you use it for a while.

Using Cubase SX & Wavelab 4.0
No worries for the time being audio

In "very low", the latency is 10ms infrieure for MIDI DPIT basic config of my test (PIII 1Ghz 512MB). on the other hand, 20-25ms with a VST instrument plug-in. I have not tried to fix by hand.

OVERALL OPINION

Finally, a product that rpond its specifications. And my expectations.

Install no problem
on the other hand, big problem that can INTERESTED. for a USB audio on laptops. in my case, sometimes I lose the Ozone (dconnect USB device ... or unsafe removal in Angliches). APRS technical support, I learned that it's the USB port of my laptop (NEC chipset, shit) and my USB chipset uses the same IRQ as my graphics card etc.. qd even a little heavy because even if a plant not often (about 1 time / 30 hours), a live plant! in this case, no solution, believe me, except to buy a PCMCIA sound card! So much to learn if you want to make scne with USB audio ...

UTILIZATION

Everything works THE FIRST ds installed, configured in 10 Seconds-one BMOL, rebooted the incapacit of the driver when a program that uses it is open. More from Reinstalling the plant Systm, readers or recording so make sure your system is clean.

GETTING STARTED

Ah ah: a default, the CPU load is one suprieure ncessite the equivalent PCI (the omni I had before). But hey saw the prx of proc athlon, I think if you want to stack the vst, a should not be too many probs.
APRS is less flexible than the PCI may be, but many stores trs.
Latency I get is minimal and does not over GNER pianist VST lowering the max. And for audio, direct monitoring erases any problem.

OVERALL OPINION

Exceptional quality price ratio, keyboard trs enjoyable, good pramp, direct monitoring, especially for guitar or bass. No breath, his prcis dynamic between instruments made with a super convenient trs effective.

Warning nanmoins the IRQ with the USB (see forums), and be sure to keep your system clean

I purchased a mobile home + use (occasional) with my Laptop Fujitsu-Siemens (1854Mhz AMD, ALi Chipset, 512MB, 60GB)

UTILIZATION

The installation was simple t trs, but the config to find the right adquate PC / soundcard a nightmare for a novice computer like me, the point of wanting to sell all ... And then, little by little, with the guidance of mail art M-Audio (on top!), The AF forums (thank you!), Web + Reinstalling a sound from my PC (disk partition, d uninstall all the useless ...) and application of all the tips to optimize the audio in XP, things are back to normal. So I have some say the worst chipset existing computer music (ALi) and ACPI (the passage in "Standard PC" is not given except reformatting the disk!) And ... everything is nickel, with 4ms latency and no crashes in Reason2.5 on Entire Journe.
Still, the heads of many taken several months to the average m'empchent Ozone on this point.

The drivers are stable, there was no set day rcente my knowledge. I 4ms latency in Reason (the software that I use the +), with audio inputs disable the card. I will use Cubase SX2 often in coming months and I will update my opinion that the time but for now (with less use as Reason) st. S. Use no problem with my VSTi (FM7, B4, EVP73 ...). I am also taken some guitar, st. S. l also ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year and I almost dplorable leave a review on this machine, while there silent for nothing. J'apprcie really can bring my studio in a backpack and the keyboard is fairly robust (good knobs, much better than I UC33e too). I tried the Tascam US122 of silent'm saying because it is compatible with the ALi chipset of my laptop => crap (the same as the assistance from Tascam! Is she?): The Ozone worked perfectly while the Tascam cracked rgulirement (approximately every 30 seconds!)
I would do this choice, or may be, the new Ozonic (3 octaves, more control and FireWire connection, but less transportable too!)

We can not wait nine more for 200 euros in my opinion, this keyboard is a model of ergonomics ...

GETTING STARTED

I am surprised how enjoyable power of the beast. I thought to be relatively limited and I had a little afraid of usb1, and of course my Powerbook AC running as a Swiss clock. My config is as follows:

Reason in rewire live in, the first ozone control Serta Reason bus (bus noon) jy adjoin a second keyboard m-audio radium which controls a second bus noon in Reason and nickel while it works with loops that I run in live at the same time, for the moment no slowdown or crash. Very nice machine. J have not yet had time to test it pramp but hey I will not be of great usefulness in a hand can be taken for the mobile but otherwise have a stud j P1 that satisfies me completely.
In terms of latency in the config that I've cit above, I am a 4 ms latency buffer with a 128 I think, ideal for live and yet my project Reason is relatively strong.
However small BMOL there mark on the af CHARACTERISTICS that there is between noon and although I've yet to find the me lol j saw two midi output so that if ever knows where it's lol ca me serata is very useful for connecting to control my rm1x live.

OVERALL OPINION

A very good product that fills very well all the functions assigned to it.

I bought it for its mobility to live with the laptop

Ben There's still a problem (same as for mabeghin, see below): it does not work on my laptop (DELL). The ozone hangs after about twenty minutes of use. While there are plenty of theories to explain it, but in short, is a crock.
It's quite serious for the animal whose strong point of sale solution is a portable all-in-one.

OVERALL OPINION

Big disappointment, it did not just use case I had expected. I will have to return, hoping that the store will be conciliatory ... A word.
