Electro-Harmonix Steel Leather
Electro Harmonix announces the Steel Leather, a bass effect pedal designed to enhance the player's picking and plucking.
According to EHX, the enhanced notes will allow the bass to cut through more easily and give your notes a sharp attack. The two knobs are used to adjust the Steel Leather’s effect from subtle to a total emphasis of the attack, with separate control over both the response and the volume of the effect.
Practically, the Steel Leather is an expander that operates over a narrow frequency range chosen specifically to expand the attack portion of a bass guitar’s notes. An expander is a device that makes loud signals louder and quiet signals quieter, thus making your playing more dynamic -- so basically it can be considered the exact opposite of a compressor.
The louder your notes the more the Steel Leather will expand or emphasize your attack. In addition on quiet notes it may not emphasize the attack at all. What this means is that the musician can use the Steel Leather to sharpen the attack on their notes just by simply playing louder. The Steel Leather can also be set up so that it emphasizes every note that is played, no matter how quiet the note.
The Steel Leather will be part of Electro Harmonix's Nano Series.
No price or release date are available yet.
