    - Knobs are very responsive, it takes a little time to find THE SOUND you like, depending on your style and your game That said, it is a remarkable versatility, I imagine at ease all styles.

    SOUNDS

I play rock and metal, sometimes a little "fusion" and damn it! what a feeling of power, a round, warm, accurate (especially the bass)
I managed to get sounds a little closer "The Clash" sounds closer to those of Tool and Sleeppers. Imagine the range of sound colors available.
Good at the same time I plug in a TECH SANSAMP RBI, it also contributes (I invite you to try this 1U rack preamp handmade in the USA, I challenge you to be disappointed!)

I love everything about this bass, and it is inconceivable to me to change!!

    OVERALL OPINION

a MUST have in this type of budget, this budget Ibanez go your way please ....

My "learner" bass (unknown name - dodgy quality) was stolen and precipitated the purchase af a new guitar. I had been thinking about replacing it and this gave me the ideal(!) oppertunity. I am still a learner on the bass but I have been playing instruments of one sort or another for about 25 years so I had a good idea in my head as to what sound I wanted. I paid AU$1,300 (which is about US$650) from JR Musicin Adelaide which is a brilliant price.

I had two requiments - a smooth clear low end and a sharp high attack high end for good slap and more driving sound. I thought it was a pipe dream - not so. I played this unit in the shop and was blown away at its clarity and varied range of…

I played this unit in the shop and was blown away at its clarity and varied range of sounds.

The controls include volume, pickup balance, bass, mid and trebel tone controls. Because it is an active equaliser thge controls not only alter the level but the timbre as well. Tugether with the pickup balance it can turn this guitar from a smooth jazz instrument into a funky slap bass.

The low end is exceptionally clear - none of that cloudiness that is common in many basses. I have a home made quad box with very high quality drivers and so I know that the speaker is capable of excellent clarity at the low end - and this is the first bass that has produced this clarity.

The look. Just tkae a look at the pictures at the Cort site and tell me that you would not be proud to hang this around your neck. Mine is the light woodgrain and looks fantastic.

My son has designes on it. He plays lead and I think that this may convert him into a bass player. He was playing it last noght at his band practice.

The weight. It is heavy - even for a bass. But I suppost that that is the sacrifice for such a resonant instrument.

The US site says that htis is an active/passive unit - however there is no swithc on the Australian model. Not sure why but that is realy no big deal.

First class. Good mounting hardware. All recesses are well shielded and earthed so that there is little to no hum. Some of the guitars I looked at hummed straight up - not his one though.

However - Under the cover the wiring is a mess. No neatly tied and run wiring and some wires twisted with a slip cover. I was surprised when I removed the cover the reveal a rats nest.

Also the battery is secured with a screw on cover. For a few extra dollars they could have providid a well constructed clip. And not the dodgy plastic things you see on even the most expensive acoustics. Screws have a tendency to strip.

The through neck looks good and enhances the resonant quality of the body. The laminated neck also adds to the ridgidity of the consrtuction.

Like so many guitars the overall consrtuction is excellent but falls down in the electronic construction.

    Value for money - excelent.
Construction - Excelent - with a few misgivings.
    Sound - brilliant.

If you are looking to upgrade from your first insrtument and you want a clear sounding bass then you could do a lot worse (believe me a LOT worse) than buy this guitar.

    Cort A5 Artesan Bass Guitar

I bought this bass guitar last year at Interlochen Guitar Company in Interlochen Michigan. It is my first Bass, and came highly recommended by the owner of the store. I paid $600.00 for this instrument, which is worth much more, considering the features that make up this bass.

The first feature that got my attention on the A5 was the thru the body neck. This feature is found on many higher end bass guitars made by prestigious makers such as Carvin and Tobias. The tone and sustain of my bass is similar to those instruments and is further enhanced by the two Bartolini "Soap bar" style pick-ups. The body is made of Curly Maple and the neck is constructed of Wenge. The A5 also has active electronics, which add to the meaty tone that it produces. I use Dean Markley SR2000 Will Lee Bass Strings, which give the guitar a fat bottom end sound.

The only thing that I don't like about the bass is the size of the body and the lack of sharper contouring. I would be comparing it to the look and design of the Tobias Bass line of instruments.

The construction of this bass is excellent. All the hardware is platinum colored and the bridge is very well built and accurate. Details such as hardware alignment and finish show the quality and craftsmanship that go into the bass.

The bottom line for this instrument is the sound or voice of the instrument. Most every rhythm section player I have performed with has gone over board on the sound quality. The tone is Fat at the bottom and very clear on the top end. I tend to be a melodic player when given the opportunity, and find that this bass guitars voice is very "yummy" on those expressive lines. One of my favorite bass players is Jimmy Haslip, and this instrument allows me to explore playing with the quality of voice that he strives to perform with.

    * Ergonomics is it good (in terms of shape, weight ...)?
    RAS

    * Access in acute (dernires freight) is it easy?
Yes, thanks to the handle through notemment (= No over-thickness at the junction body / sleeve as the sleeve intruments glued or screwed.

    * Gets it easy to sound good? ...
Oh yes! Dj it sounds good base, and more EQ is really good and makes it easy to change compltement sound.

    SOUNDS

    * Suitable they your style of music?
Yes, all fawn it is so versatile that it can suit me any style of modern music.

    * Which types of sound you get and with what rglages ("crystalline", "fat ",....)?
She does it all and does it well, again: trs really versatile.

    * With what (s) amp (s) or effect (s) do you play?

Effects: compressor and distortion, both analog pedals Markbass and lamps.

    * What are the sounds you prfrez, you dtest?
I love them all and do not dtest. Seriously, it seems almost impossible to hurt this bass sound, even in doing expr. Modeling all types of sound with the EQ is a real treat on this bass.
    Excellent sustain also.

    OVERALL OPINION

    * How long have you use it?
    1 year

    * Have you tried many other models before acqurir?
I had a low price before the first (Harley Benton), and it is day and night.
I have also a fender precision electronic active US (SERIES Deluxe), and they are trs diffrent, difficult to compare (the Fender REALLY more personality and sound sublime, but the Cort is really much, much more versatile and versatile).

    * What is the particular feature you like best and least?

    the -:
    - Not super easy to slap because of the small space between the 5-string

    and +:
+ Trs comfortable and easy to play
    + Good sound trs
    + Trs sustain good
    + Trs good EQ
    Trs + versatile

Think well to beef up the shoulders, the cort is actually quite heavy.

    SOUNDS

I play with in a progressive rock band. It's perfect.
I use it for projects also characters in tones more minimalist.

It is a branch Hartke 350W (head lamps and transistor; hp 4 * 10 + 1 * 15). It simply becomes a weapon of mass destruction.

In assets, we get very easy to slap sounds decent even when it has never done, which is my case.
This bass has held (in effect run through), it sounds at any point.

To make some small rglages beginners to find the correct height of strings, to avoid the curling.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for over 2 months.
I like its versatility, its sound, its playability, and and and cum.

I had a dj precisionbass mexico, and I wanted a low of a different caliber. I thought my way more to musicman (sting ray, sub) or Jazzbass us.
I tried all these MODELS and I really cracked by trying the Cort, which I had yet to make an a priori negative.

I bought it for about 750EUR. I did not find MODELS suffering the comparison in this price range.

Although Obviously, this is a MODEL that I recommend.

Low team excellently well for the price. Bass with equipment and equivalents worth CHARACTERISTICS sometimes twice in other brands.

    UTILIZATION

The handle is very enjoyable and gives a good natural playing position for the wrist. It is rather late, rather flat and the back. Totally opposite a handle type warwick, is more of a handle rapprohce fender. CHAC is very easy to acute. The strings are rather pardre space that makes a little game speed, but can easily slapper on all strings. As against this makes the handle a bit wide for smaller hands, but with a little used to it entrainnement widely.

The shape of the bass is GND ergonomic microphones very well placed to play with the thumb on the pickups. The bass is very well glament balance and did not switch the cot holding the handle, rcurent problem on bass 5 string res when the body is small (and rather Gnant to play).

This bass is a little heavy, however, which is tiring for the back after several hours of repeating, or concerts, especially if you tend strongly to move on stage. Better Avoi your back muscle. But this is only the weight of the good against wooden utiliss this low, and that weight is still below the low warwick.

The violin is an excellent bill and competes easily with the low made in United States. Impossible to guess that this is a violin Coren.

    SOUNDS

This bass is very versatile. The qualisaiton as very effective, it is possible to play virtually with the otut. You can spend a lot of the typical jazz mediums, a metal osn no very bright and very low in medium, to dub her a big greasy, full of sub bass, and also a sound enough to circle the rock.

All these sounds are accessible just by the utilsiant lectronqiue the bass if the amp is versatile and used fairly transparent.
I play this bass on a Hartke stack consists of: HA3500 + + 410BXL 115BXL, also with a preamp behringer bass vamp pro.

This low level its a very enjoyable tone in the mids. This stamp is discreet lightweight allowing it to Integrates perfectly, whatever the style or the other instruments.

Bartolini microphones are really very very effective. They really OTN potato if we play near the bridge on the bridge pickup, and give cete configuration in a very dynamic attack for free style funk, or mediator. In the neck position gives a more rounded rocks, that captures the personality of the best bass. These microphones are also devilishly prcis, and make good all extremmement petitsbruits fret fingers slip. This allows you to play bass with modern techniques such as tapping, harmonics, ...

    OVERALL OPINION

I use this for a little absse plsu two months now, and I am always fully satisfied. Even if I have a little hsit before choosing this low (especially with the brands warwick / Mayones / schecter), I finally took the bass and do not regret any of my my acchat.
In hindsight I would remake the same choice as this bass is exactly what I was looking for:
    Low-qualitbr />-ease of play
    -Good sound
    -Versatility

Bought for 850 with hard flight case. (About 750-800 only)

The ratio quality price is very very good. There are few brands offer such low prices in these (I only know schecter Mayones and who do good also lower the price), and for the same Features and quality must often turn to low more expensive.
Certainly for those looking for a particular grain of low, prcis a stamp, a very strong personality that low may not be the IDAL. It is best to Torun towards Warwick / fender / musicman / or bass luthier. The Cort is a very good bass, excelling versatile musicians wanting to play all styles.
I play with a lot of metal, and it is perfect but follows as well when I envio to play other styles.
But it was still on or modern styles of play techinque (slap, tapping, ...) that this low is doing better.

Already what I liked from the first grip is the shape and color of the beast, beautifully varnished wood finish with a marble. Very aesthetic!

As for the neck-through, ultra comfortable, not too wide (unless Yam TRB1005 example, much less than the 5-string LTD). Access to acute is easy and everything is obvious. In addition, the handle attached to the body can sustain a larger and deeper sound. (Compared to the NB5 with the same electronic)
No risk of either accidental detuning, but be careful when changing strings, all the precautions to take ;-)

In weight, no worries for those who have to slam JazzBass with 5 strings. It must be at the max 7kg. And besides it not sting the nose. Perfect.
The violin is worthy of the great American brands, and I admire the quality and precision of mechanical Hipshot. The bridge exudes confidence.

The rope is IF it right, not too soft and sounds right.

    SOUNDS

To find the right sound, no worries since we have 5 knobs (including 3 for bass EQ Mid Treble).
Well at first I had a little trouble to get out to find the Sound. But with practice it was packed.
Splitter for the Mid slap (excellent sound brilliant by the way).
Splitter the Treble and Bass to push the sound dub to make you blow up the rib cage, no prob. If a serious blow and bang!
This bass does it all! Versatility you say versatility?!
THE active passive switch is not bad in the idea, but in practice personal, I find it a little gadget, especially since the fact of a splitter is énooorme "scrouitch" in the amp ...
I use it myself for everything, be it reggae, metal, fusion, funk, she holds the note perfectly, and is not confined to one style. Must be said that Barto provide good!
I play on a Hartke 3500 head + HCV115 and I do not need to touch the EQ of the amp, as I get everything with that of the bass!

    OVERALL OPINION

It's been one month that I used and I am amazed every day hanging from his neck!
I have nothing negative to say about the A5, as qualities! Pity She stamped Cort, it would be a disaster if not! I'm sure!
I tested a Yam and a Rockbass TRB1005, I think the Cort breathe better, it has a warm, almost personal. All for an affordable price (800 €)

For those seeking a quality / performance / price ratio as well as extreme versatility combined with excellent comfort, Ruez you on!

The other, try to see and you'll be amazed!

NECK trs fine and practical for my small mimines.Pas too large despite the 5-string.

The handle as I said above is a true pleasure for me anyway, and Access in acute given the fact that it is crossing can hardly be meilleur.La bte is lg re balance and well, and play sitting or standing poses no problem.
I did not have long so my sound mastery of the craft is much room for improvement, however, returning to live among the instruments of my FW 1804 I began to draw near to what I want, ie a well rounded and pchu, and I must say that the active eq is welcome that level l.

    SOUNDS

It is apparently trs polyvalente.Pour what I do with it parfait.J 've jou there is little precision on an old dreaded the sound but the electronic rev typ of cort allows a greater range of sounds.

    OVERALL OPINION

I recently but the contact does good. However, a small pout BMOL notes played on THE FIRST fret that borders all. I think she will need a small SETTING THE manche.Bon report qualitprix.Je put 8 because of the first fret.

is a low comfortable enough but there is a black body weight
yes it is active and it seems heavier than the deluxe 5 string Jazzbass us.
for sound is not easily get what one seeks after it no really specific grain from a little bizare be something in the medium on the side of 2kHz
As a little work on his touch in some states, it will sound flat but specifically, see below.

    SOUNDS

It sounds great, thanks to the handle through the harmonics sound really well and long, not really a grain but in sound which made it a clean and precise with which few actually do anything, really a bass that has the qualities its defects.

    OVERALL OPINION

    Rated reliability
the handle is through the sudden he does not move at all, since I set it not one bit blurry, the battery kept me 6 mois.petit thing if we bought this bass: when buying a file you have to think a bit because the nut a little too sharp for strings (metal nut) but since I filed down the slightest concern.

good low versatile, too can be (I like quibbling) and inexpensive for its level of finish and its "quality grade"

    Great ergonomics.
For the sound is not the empty (I had only two knobs and a microphone before too, but tampering with it soon realizes that one can go to the Dub thing full of sounds of strings and frets through a sound slap. And yet, it feels has explored the entries of the assets!

Important note: this is not a true active / passive, because when the battery is dead, even the liability has not work (not even imagine the stress a concert ...), m enlve me if the battery so the canvas is -1 for a.

Also important: n'esprez not live like a slapper fla, 5 strings and must be SRES trs prcis if you do not agree ceuta bizard
Similarly to beginners, it is especially the proximity of the rope as the appearance of a 5th that disrupts the game to the fingers.

    SOUNDS

So is the great, but takes some learning to get find the sound you need (5 + activity pots / passive) so much that I ended up putting everything on the plate amp and put me in direct (alos with my 4 string I put an amp modlisateur between).
Basically patterns are learned quickly, but to refine a time-consuming
Anyway, its a drinking trs quickly found.

I jou of torque 100W crate BT100, 350W amp + head (I remember the brand)
We will say that the amplifier maintains a certain influence, but it works well everywhere!

I love everything and I hate anything except may be the volume knob a little misplaced, which can interfere with slap (2 3 cm to the rear has had better).

    Good choice!

The pickups are Bartolini Mk1, powerful, warm, beautiful, two in number (position of the middle body, and bridge).

The bridge house seems to you it seems to me irrprochable, except that it is not al parfaitemant the body height of the G string. My luthier will tell me more.

It is an active low, the rglages are classic: a knob for quilibrage of two microphones, one for volume, a switch to activate or not qualisation, and three knobs for the qualisation bass, and treble mdiums.

The mcaniques the heads are stressed by their quality, I did not know the Hipshot, but we must recognize that they are extraordinaireent prcises and fine. ESG Sul, when changing strings usual cranks are a little too big for the distance between the mcaniques on the A5 and it is not easy.

    UTILIZATION

Premire thing to do, change the ignoble origin Addario strings dsaccordent which at first sight and sound not only by their mtal, for my part I vnre the Ernie Ball Power Slinky, a good game 135-50 to find its place without flinching and remove the fuzzy tuning and almost immediately the sound mtalise new ropes.

The handle, saddle and Weng through any bass, and Rosewood for the keys, is extremely enjoyable comfort. Everything plays smooth and fluid on the low. The action RULES low enough original incentive not to hit or attack as a bully, and the ease of playing naturally as a winner if a game low silent fate pure trs, tr s sweet.

It accde to dernires frets very easy, the dcoup body is beautiful and trsfminin it must be emphasized, and this low natural wood catches the eye as much as the ear.

Weight is within 5 pounds, not surprising (it is necessary to have a weight sustain worthy of the name) it is neither heavy nor lgre, but it has a trs good centering and suddenly the balance is trs enjoyable, and we feel ASEZ little weight rel. Sitting or standing, it will not dpays from a Fender Jazz or Precision, but it will be more comfortable. It is much less tired.

In its Contents, the potentiomtres qualisation of electronic coupling and the Bartolini pickups give incredible flexibility. The dynamics of volume on each track frequency drives is great, and the quality of its rglage whatever is really good. In short we can shape the sound will without s'inquiter for its quality. I think we're not far from the possibility of a Musicman Stringray but much cheaper!

    SOUNDS

As explained above, the flexibility of the A5 sound is remarkable. Its pickups are of quality and of electronic qualisation stupfiante is the dynamic plan. The qualisation three bands can do almost any sound, except that of a Precision, because of the type of microphones. In any event state can make a pure, crystalline, if desired, but also his trs jazz with percussive pops and mediums, or a round or bold enough to rock and mtal, well that my own opinion and in the low fat, low this may not be able to fight with a Mexican Fender Precision, or even a Squier Precision when it was under one year of age.

With the A5, I replaced a Yamaha 605 BBH, a good 5-string bass for beginners but had no real characters, so no sound: its electronic n'tait not really convincing without specific default it does not allow to shape the sound really. With the Cort A5, which is not even twice as much, I still quite low Discoveries that could offer a cheap good quality sound and a true characters.

    OVERALL OPINION

Bass player for 2 years and 5-string 3 years, I have this past month Artisan A5 but the shock was instantaneous t on the first try. I immediately knew that this silent MODEL fantastic for its price, without difficulty and replace my old Yamaha. Through the handle and sustain that bring out something amazing: I probably made a demand to try the B5, just below the MODEL that has a handle collviss classical and new IMMEDIATE t the shock, the silent A5 clearly a step up in terms of comfort and sound. The handle is comfortable, the electronic model allows me to my sound as I never did before, his balance is perfect as sitting up, even the Aesthetics of natural wood is beautiful simple breathtaking. The only complaint I have relates to the original strings that are not really worthy of this exceptional low price.

    SOUNDS

I play mainly rock, metal, progressive .. for once I have a really good sound (modern) but a very good sound. The slapping going very well on this bass. I played with a ba ampeb 110, but for recording I often put it online.

I think with this bass you can get pretty good sound for both pop than rock, the funk, as the metal. on the other hand not top for jazz, the pickups are not for it (I'm walking on it and it's not top)

    OVERALL OPINION

I play this bass for 9 years. I love his violin and his sound, I like the least likely that the input jack has often been problematic.

I tried at the time and I had a warwick bass as good bill with Cort for much less expensive (sorry purists)

rapprot qualiré the price very well

for a five string so I will ever be the same choice without a doubt (unless he could pay me but it ca Leduc will be when I win the lottery)

    SOUNDS

All sounds available, but with one constant: it growls loud, and all the bass vibrates well. I play on all amps in the studio, and Ashdown Mag 300 Evo II (with a 15 ") at home. It is crystal when it is necessary, and very heavy, with a powerful growl + a useful power for huge pieces bastonnent strong.

    OVERALL OPINION

Tested in store this morning, went home with! Tried a few other 5 strings, but am less made an impression.
What I like most? Sound, or rather the sounds!
What I like least? The hard slap which requires rework his game, but ..... Is not it useful?
    Value for money unbeatable.

I would do this election? We will see in a few months, but ..... I seriously think this is YES!

EDIT 25/07/10: slap actually difficult. Solution if you can not pull the string of D, it must enter the Mark King.
