    Great bass

    Spector NS-2000/5Published on 06/12/21 at 19:09
Bought this bass in like new condition. For a bass over 20 years old it was in great shape. They have become sought after recently. Great tone, excellent playability. I have tried various Euro models but other than weight, there is no reason to change. Neck thru+brass nut+brass bridge+maple body= growling tone and sustain.

I purchased this instrument from Mars Music in Indianapolis. I payed around $800 for this bass.

First off an active 5 string neck through for $800 is AMAZING. So i bought it and found that not only is it a great price it is a great bass. it has a nice asymetrical neck that allows good reach and the neck isn't to thick but not too small that your fingers get cramped ala a Ibanez SR series bass. This is a beautiful looking bass with a great maple top.

The major downfall of this bass is the electronics. The EMG-HZ pickups are decent but they kind of leave you wanting a little more. I don't have a problem because of the head i run through but others might be looking for more mids or ful…

This bass is solid. There aren't any noticable physical marks or warps. Hardware is all mounted properly. Great quality.

A 5 string neck through under a $1000 which plays great and sounds good. Can't beat it

I got this at Mars Music in Charlotte, Nc. I got this bass because first of all it looked great and sounded great. I only paid 904.74.

It felt so natural to hold it and the molding body was so comfortable. The neck was nice and slick, except sometimes when I sweat, it can get a little sticky and resistance is bound to build up. But that doesn't seem to bother me seeing that I hardly use my thumb on the back of the fretboard. Other than that it is such an amazing bass to play. Slapping on it sounds great. Tapping is just as fun when you get everything set-up. I set up my own bass(s). Everyone that sees me play compliments me on my pretty bass and how well it sounds. Some people offe…

Tapping is just as fun when you get everything set-up. I set up my own bass(s). Everyone that sees me play compliments me on my pretty bass and how well it sounds. Some people offered up to $650 for it. I guess thats not too bad seeig that I only paid 904.74. This is my pride and joy. And to add on to what I like about it. is the fact that it is neck through. If you ever have a bass I would recommened you at least get a bass that is neck through. There is also a brass nut that adds so much to he bass in its looks and playability.

The only thing I didnt like was that Mars "musicians" just tried to sell me the bass and other stuff with the bass and didn't seem to know about the bass itself. I knew more about the bass than he did and I didn't even own it or knew Spector basses even exist for that matter. Also I didn't like the way the neck felt. But you get used to it after a while and like I said before I hardly place my thumb on the back of the fretboard. I also didnt seem to lie the low B casue it was too muddy/bassy. Nut a few EQ tweaks and you can ahive the sound you want.

Everything was great. The brass nut sounded like a charm and was loud and rung pretty well. I was used to a plastic nut and I notice the difference right away. Plus it looks alot better. The pick-ups, they are EMGs and they sound wonderful. and they were also active so that was a plus. The only thing about it was that the treble was kind o humming.

This is a great bass. If you like to slap and groove with round low end, I would suggest this bass. It is well built and does the job for me in playing many styles of music from jazz to hardcore. It is a bass that will be accept musically for the way it sings. I would rate this out of 10 a 9.8
