Silvertone 1448Published on 05/12/09 at 09:15
The Silvertone 1448 is a pretty old guitar that has become what now is Danelectro and if you ever need any replacement parts you can find them through them. The Silvertone 1448 only has a single pick up with knobs for tone and volume and is interesting in both look and shape, as it has an interesting body shape and has all of the tuning pegs on one side of the headstock, which is rarely seen. Silvertone started out as the manufacturer for Sears and I believe that is where this guitar was originally sold.

UTILIZATION

The neck of the Silvertone 1448 feel good, but it isn't incredibly easy to play or anything like this. While it is certainly playable, the neck sometimes feels old and while the specific guitar that I have used has good action, I've heard of other people who aren't too happy with the original action on this guitar, which makes it hard to play. The shape of the guitar is pretty awesome however, and is extremely light in weight. Getting a good sound from the Silvertone 1448 isn't too hard but there isn't that much versatility involved because it only has one pick up.

SOUNDS

The sound quality of the Silvertone 1448 is pretty unique, but what you see off the bat is what you get because there isn't too much tone control with this guitar. While I like the sounds I can get from the single pick up, I would love to have another pick up that I could blend with the other one to get a wider variety of different sounds. I have only really used the Silvertone 1448 for clean sounds and I would probably recommend sticking to this as I don't think this is the best guitar for using distortion with.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Silvertone 1448 for about two or three years and while it is certainly a piece of history and is very interesting, it isn't the best feeling or sounding guitar. However, it does have its own unique sound and look to it that makes it a great collectible or great for certain situations. If you can find this guitar now, which is somewhat hard as they aren't all that readily available, the price isn't that cheap. You are paying for the fact that this is classic and old guitar, not really for the sound or feel. If you are looking for a great sounding overall guitar, this isn't it but it certainly has its cool features to it.

- In which country was it made?
United States, early 60's, guitar study, very small and light

- How many frets, what kind of micro as well as their configuration?
A microphone (but what a micro!) Lipstick, very powerful, freight uh ... less than a normal guitar as smaller

- What are the settings (volume, tone, micro switch ...)?
very simple, one volume, a severe acute point-bar

UTILIZATION

- The handle is it fun?
oh yes, it slides very well

- Access to acute (recent freight) is it easy?
I would say yes, but it is not too good made for metal solos!

- Ergonomics is it good (in terms of shape, weight ...)?
light, it looks like a fake cardboard!, beautiful shape

light, it looks like a fake cardboard!, beautiful shape

- Gets it easy to sound good? ...
now we're talking!, sound, my god, I brach in my old bassman 50 and .. the slap!, full of serious, full of sharp .. I really hallucinated

SOUNDS

- They are suitable to your style of music?
yes that makes me rather in the kind lofi rock, a little cradingue, great
not recommended for metal-popeux to dream ...
this guitar is the wild
Instead, think blues explosion, noise beck see groups

- What kind of sound you get and with what settings ("crystalline", "bold ",....)?
without distortion is already wild'm not sure whether Arpeggios for the foot, open tuning and slide against the happy!

OVERALL OPINION

- How long have you use it?
A year and a half, I have a lot of guitars (telecaster, eko Höfner, jaguar) but I always come back to it

- What is so special that you like most and least?
I love everything, I'm in love with this guitar, I see no defects
ok good, the microphone is really a killer

- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
no, I bought on ebay without having tried

- How would you rate the quality / price?
100 of 10), bought with his $ 250 flight case / tube amp!
works very well indeed, although I prefer the amp of his sister, with tremolo and more (the red 2 microphones)
unbeatable

- With experience, you do again this choice? ...
oh yes!, even going to be me buy another for the price
I highly recommend, considering the price, quality, and then the authorities have to disappear one day

made to us, the bridge is Simplicime, wooden handle is round and end the differences are small because of the small size of the guitar
microphone "lipstick", which sounds magically well, a volume, tone

UTILIZATION

the handle fits me perfectly, I do not have fingers so it falls jimi fine. ergonomics is great, the guitar is lightweight, well balanced, easy access to acute
the sound is simple, just plug and play!

SOUNDS

this guitar is typed blues slide, in which she excels, but it remains a versatile sound that lends itself well to the rhythm as that solo is that a gibson less fat and less sharp as a strat c is just an excellent compromise
