Hohner ORGANA 12

The Hohner Organa 12 is a simple suitcase reed organ. It's a polyphonic instrument consisting of about four octaves of keys. It doesn't have any parameters, including no pitch or modulation wheels or anything like that. You can't really edit the sound, as what you hear is what you get here. It's got a handle on it for easy transportation.

UTILIZATION

The overall feel of the Hohner Organa 12 is about average. It isn't the best feeling keyboard that I've played by a long shot, but it's certainly more than playable. The keys do feel a bit cheap, however. There aren't any setting controls to change the sound at all, so you won't have to worry about any parameters. For this reason, a manual surely isn't necessary.

SOUNDS

The Organa 12 definitely gives you a typical reed/pump organ type of sound within a compact unit. It's hard to describe the sound of the organ if you don't know what a reed organ typically sounds like, but it's sort of a medieval type of sound that's great for comping chords. I don't know if I'd use this for anything than other than for texture purposes, but I'm sure that other users will find other uses for it. For a small organ, this definitely has a pretty thick reed organ sound.

OVERALL OPINION

I would imagine that it would be pretty difficult to get your hands on a Hohner Organa 12, as the one that I've used is the only one that I've ever seen. Either way, if you're looking for a reed organ I'm not sure this would be the way to go anyway. It's definitely got a nice sound, but it's really limited since you can get only the one sound. If it's cheap enough to buy it might be worth it, but otherwise you could probably find a pretty good electronic keyboard with a good enough reed organ sound to get your by.

In fact, the principle is simple.

It is not my main keyboard biensur. But it will have its place with other ds my future studio. That's what I want in tt case later.
