« Really works! »
Published on 08/06/11 at 11:08This dual ht is massive and very robust. Its weight and non-slip pad provides good stability on smooth surfaces.
Pedal designed around a tube circuit. It has two separate channels activated by switch with LED activation. A button also allows to switch between the first channel rendering Clean or Crunch. Each channel has its own set of gain and level knobs common concentric rings. Inconvenient but effective. A triplet bass / midrange / treble common to both channels, followed by the famous setting ISF made sense to give the general character or American English ...
An entry instrument.Une output to connect the front of amp and / or pedalboard.
Output with cabinet emulation to attack a console or recording system.
WARNING: no battery power, the AC adapter is provided.
UTILIZATION
Even if a manual is now in the box, it will pass easily. Some examples are given for information to understand how to approach a particular family of sounds.
The potentiometers have a resistance of chrome genuine, and a possible escalation of the nuances of relevant settings.
BUT! Because we had a good argument to darken a rosy picture: the chrome button and the tiny landmark on top of it can not properly view the position settings. As soon as one is standing, and worse, on stage with lighting "cozy" is the land of the blind ... do not expect to edit the settings in the dark, or else the "tried".
SOUND QUALITY
From the outset, I have not found interesting this pedal with an amp or transistor emulation / hybrid. Ex: in front of a Roland Cube 30, it gives a lot of breath, tight sound. It is true that the dynamics are improved, but at the expense of other parameters. Marshall MG 100 on a buddy, it's better, there is a real warmth, but the management of equalization between amp and pedal is laborious.
In front of a tube amp, everything becomes clear: it is excellent as well with single coils with doubles.
We concocts a super clear sound of the amp, a slight crunch on the first channel of the pedal, a distortion free on the second, and here we are with a "three-channel" really consistent. Playing with the volume of the instrument, all the subtleties that attaches to his classic "lamps" are at your fingertips. Of course, the result will depend greatly on the amp used. In my case, a Laney VC30 112 vintage of obedience, the clean channel is beautiful and perfectly supports the input gain of the "HT-Dual." ISF allows to homogenize the rendering between the channel of the amp and the character of the pedal, or instead of venturing into sounds foreign to the original spirit of the amp. Nice versatility in perspective.
However, like many other distortion pedals, the higher the gain, the more residual appears a breath, not a problem during the game but rather embarrassing during breaks. A noise gate handle a wide range of common inconvenience for the vast majority of the pedals of this type.
OVERALL OPINION
I use this pedal live and rehearsal at home on my pedalboard for a repertoire ranging from rock to heavy through the country, the English and French pop.
I have a Boss DS1, Boss SD1 an od, a TS808, a TO800, a metal muff in poor condition, but since the arrival of my couple Laney / Blackstar, I admit I stored all my other pedals. Simply because this gives me HT Dual everything I need in one pedal. It works great with my Start US, my Ibanez JS1000 and AS93, my P44pro Parker.
From blues to heavy, nothing scares him, the result is qualitatively realistic.
The price / quality ratio seems interesting right to the versatility and robustness of the machine.
I highly recommend buying this pedal really effective professional features.
