It has a 3-band EQ, a pre-gain settings (the interesting point of this pedal) and a boost with volume and gain (very useful).
The boost can not be used alone.
DI output for use as preamp.
UTILIZATION
Very easy to handle.
The interesting thing as I said is the Pre-gain knob, which has 4 positions: Full and Tight Low Gain and High Gain Full and Tight.
"Full" is a more open sound or the "Tight" is more compressed sound.
The boost can be used as a volume boost or gain.
SOUND QUALITY
Here is the important chapter: the JFET are supposed provided very close to a tube amp that heats ... and its works fine grain! We believe that a hot lamp is hidden in the pedal, you really find this grain tube amp saturates, it is very effective.
The pedal could just be a "good OD pedal" if it had the right switch, but fortunately the extra boost makes all the interest, adding a gain stage, we can sail the OD light bluesy, big sound very heavy metal enclanchant the boost.
So versatile, and very convenient because you can go in front of a light bluesy OD Low gain setting Full, a big, fat distortion in enclanchant the boost with the gain all the way!
In short, all the records will pass with an impressive realism is really good that we pedal out EHX!
OVERALL OPINION
First a very good price / features, because a good distortion pedal with an additional boost to two settings for € 135, not ba sa short streets (when one sees that sells Boss DS-1X 150 € .. .).
Then, most importantly, its rings, and very well, in most settings, it is used in a Low Gain Full bluesy plan or High Gain Tight Metal played for that spot.
And finally: it is very quiet without the boost and even with the two gains in depth, the od and the boost, the background noise is very reasonable compared to the gain level.
In conclusion: a very good buy, I recommend!
