I use it for about 3 months, but these three months are not far behind. Before the APC40, while staying at Akai, I bought a Akai MPK mini, nice but too Toy .. Then I switched to a master keyboard Alesis, perfect quality. APC is really an intuitive MIDI controller for Ableton, more numerous rev are present on the internet to use it more or less native. Anyway, the good thing is its ease of use and the negative is that it is not a native controller, but it is still possible to use a MPC brand that is not rest either.
Level quality / price ratio, for a price of € 340 it is a bit expensive, but nowadays the price of a MIDI controller with a certain ease is not given.
I would do this choice without doubt, however for non-followers of Ableton, go your way to pass an MPC of the same brand and impeccable quality.

I utilsais not bad for Ableton, I must say that it is a MIDI controller really good quality, but the rub or, was that you had to adapt to the way of working of the apc is to say just lauching (trigger) clips, and use knobs (knobs) for different effects. All that remained quite limited, given that you can not assign, very easily config. twelve o'clock another only via midi learn. One between your DAW software and hardware would have been more! Similarly you can not utilez 64 pads for twelve o'clock launcher notes drum rack, this has been fixed in the APC20 version and is available on the launchpad, you can still buy a config. similarly for a few dollars more, this address has http://www.nativekontrol.com/apC_Series.html, speaking English is advisable, I did not, but it will add and give its full dimension the apc40, of being much more versatile. Otherwise even without AC, it remains a great mixer with faders quality, it was the first that I did use, and it ca maquera me much, but I was forced to sell to acquire Push the Akai.
Price level, I would say it is qualified by its superb quality, and given that the push comes, its price will remain around 200 €, which is a must at this price mixer, but if you a good portfolio, I adviserai anyway to invest Push if you want to operate Ableton Live 9 in all its glory and have a midi controller of versatility to the extreme!

What I like: ultra-easy to use with Live. As is dedicated to the gear, plug in usb and hey presto, everything works live. It is a treat.
What I like least: not much except the rather imposing size, but something for nothing!

The value for money is good, but not crazy either. It tickles when even € 400, but the opportunities are enormous and justify the price, as well as finishing, really good quality.

I remake that choice without hesitation. There is a before and after APC when using Live. Whether for play or compo live set, this is really a huge plus to have knobs to turn to manage the effects and pads for launching clips, as opposed to ch ... with the mouse or the touchpad of the computer. It allows to search for sounds and hacks in which one side would have happened without this bug.

I use the APC40 for 2 years and I have nothing "negative" to say about this product.
it is reliable, compact and ergonomic.
it is clearly oriented composition and live, but can be completely re-mapped to MIDI mix traktor kind.
the product is plug-and-play, no tuning required.
navigation with the CPA does not allow for exclusive use ableton patch although improving the workability in the software exists on the ableton site.

I had the opportunity to use the novation launchpad and I think the CPA is clearly above the rest.
hindsight and experience, I will remake choice without hesitation!

APC 20 that there are few effects knobs, I preferred a mdèle reference for all users of the APC 20 Ableton with it is just perfect for a Mive simple, but APC 40 has an interface which is directly connected to a USB

What is so special that you like most.

effects knobs that can control the knobs from VST Instruments and Effects in Ableton, can grind ls knobs Freeware VST effects.

no, for different reasons, because there is no downside.

I do not have anything more to add that the word used in my title, this controller has been developed for a specific software, unlike other MIDI controllers that they should be assigned several apps, the APC40 it dedicated to Ableton LIVE and it's just ... great!

In the more he is made of materials of good quality, the crossfader is very flexible (like a mixer), the faders are sturdy with a 60 mm stroke, potentiometers (unlimited travel!) Are also super strong well inked and they are all accompanied by LED level (useful when playing in dark places!) when the various buttons, SIR!

Come on, the only small weakness, it might be that all a can be a bit much ... plastics, metal knobs and faders on the tables as VESTAX example might have been yet made the machine more "noble" but hey, the frame is metal and the unit works great.

In short, super bike!
