Friday's Freeware: Double Treat

Two nice new plug-ins have been released this week: a new tube amp at Ignite Amps and a distortion effect from FXpansion.

Ignite Amps launched this week the new TPA-1 power amp plug-in for guitar, but this one uses is a valve amp, which is a first for them. TPA-1 is not based on any particular power amp model, but is designed to be versatile, from vintage to modern tones, and easy to tweak, with only three depth, presence and volume controls, as well as a mono/stereo switch.

You can combine this 32 and 64-bit VST and AU plug-in to any guitar preamp, may it be hardware or software.

The other good news comes from FXpansion. They partnered with Sweetwater to offer a light version of its Maul distortion plug-in, called Single Mault SE (pint aficionados will appreciate…). The VST, AU and RTAS plug-in for Mac and Windows features 7 distortion algorithms with filtering, saturation, limiting and transient shaping possibilities. A wet/dry mix control is also included and MIDI Learn is supported.

The Single Mault SE plug-in is only available through July 31st, hence its presence in the Friday’s Freeware. You only need to have a valid account at FXpansion, registering is free and fast. Visit www.fxpansion.com to download the plug-in and follow the instructions.
