The debut software from Scuffham Amps is now available for Mac OS X as a plug-in and standalone application.
S-Gear for Mac supports the Audio Unit plug-in format and offers the same functionality as the current Windows release. Mac OS X 10.5.x, 10.6.x and 10.7.x are supported and a universal binary allows operation in both 32-bit and 64-bit hosts.
A full license will cost $75 (excl. taxes).
Each S-Gear amplifier is said to have its own character:
- The Duke is described as having “warm sweet cleans and smooth lead tones”
- The Stealer supposedly “oozes raw vintage power”
- The Jackal crosses over into “high gain modern rock territory”
A special feature of each S-Gear amp is the Tweak panel, providing control of dynamic power amp characteristics like sag and high-cut.
Scuffham Amps also have features such as the Z Control on the Pro Convolver, allowing control over the impedance output effect of the tube amp.
