Softube Vintage Amp Room

The Softube Vintage Amp room is an easy plug in to use, the basic version of this plug in cost around 200 dollars but I suggest getting the TDM version because it comes with more amps but it is about a hundred dollars more than the Native version. This version has three amplifiers that are all simulated in a vintage amp room. There is a “white” amp that is a good amp for distorted sounding guitars and it is very easy to use. There are no built in effects on it and there is only one channel but it is a great starting point to work with. The “brown” amp is very easy to use, it has a clean and clear sound but still give that warmth and punchy sound that I love to have when working with these style of amps.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The “green” amp is the warmest one out of the three too me and it is more of the type that I would use on a regular basis because of how good it can get guitars to cut through the mix while still letting other instruments be present. All three amps are great vintage style amps with clean and rich sounds. Using these amps is very easy and takes no manual reading and no learning curve. They all run great and take up little to no CPU unless you use multiple instances of it at the same time then you will notice the CPU bar going up.

OVERALL OPINION

The interface of these amps is very simple and basic, nothing is hard to understand and being that they do not have a lot of effects there really isn’t much you can manual do to them besides tweak a few of the knobs. I recommend this to anyone who loves vintage amp and vintage amp sounds in digital form. I was very pleased with these three amps and how smoothly they run as a VST in multiple DAW’s.

The Softube Vintage Amp Room plug-in is a piece of guitar amp modeling software. The plug-in is compatible across the board as far as I can tell, as you can get it for both Mac and PC and in RTAS/TDM, AU, and VST formats. I wasn't involved with the installation of this plug-in since I don't currently own it and have just used it at the studio that I work at. I can speak about the interface however, as you've essentially got three different types of amps to choose from here. Each has their own panel of controls, and their own microphone which you can move to set how close or far you'd like to be from the amp. While it doesn't say so in the plug-in, the amps modeled in here are a Fender, Vox, and Marshall as far as I can tell. I love how you can move the microphone around the amp, as you can even set it on it's axis if you'd like. It's a pretty simple plug-in to use, so a manual shouldn't be needed.

The studio that I work at has the Softube Vintage Amp Room plug-in running on a few different systems since we've got a number of different studios on site. The main system in our A room is a Mac Pro computer with dual 2.66 Intel Xeon processors and 10 GB of RAM, and all of the systems are running Pro Tools HD. We never really have issues running plug-ins on any of these systems since they are indeed HD based, so it's hard to say how well this will run on another system.

OVERALL OPINION

Softube's Vintage Amp Room amp modeling software is some of the coolest of it's kind in my opinion. It has a pretty good sound, although in general I'm really not one for amp modeling as I always try to get a good sound at the source with a real amplifier. However, there are certainly times when it's not possible to go back and track more or re-amp, so I do sometimes have a need for amp modeling. There are certainly options for amp modeling these days, but Vintage Amp Room is as good as most out there. It's got a nice collection of different amplifiers here, more of which can be found in the other Amp Room plug-ins that Softube has. It's good for fulling up a sound a bit, especially if you use it for blending purposes. The interface is also one of the coolest, as you can actually drag the microphones in front of the amps and move them where you'd like to, as I previously mentioned. All in all, this plug-in is definitely one worth trying and knowing about if you're looking for some amp modeling software.

I possde Guitar Rig, AmpliTube 2, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix, Pod Farm and Eleven (digidesign)
All are dpasss by Vintage Amp Room (+ heat + of ... ism)
There are only 3 amps, a bit expensive for only 3 amps, but if you want a carton as the o sound of the guitar is very important to ring a Vox AC 30, Fender Twin Reverb or Marshall JCM 800 (the vintage of course), try Vintage Amp Room.

I use it for several months, and almost all tests jai plugs whether paid or free! (Guitar rig 1-4, AmpliTube 1-3, Vandal Overloud, kuassa, lepou, devilamp, Revalver, plektron etc etc ...) in short all that to say that no one comes close Softube plugins .. ..

like say the previous review may be that some will say it is expensive for 3 amps .... but we must recognize that with you can play ALL styles which require a sound vintage, and especially one obtains a very realistic .... jazz, blues, british rock, hard rock ... all is, with only 3 amps, and without getting your head!

ps: do not hesitate to use several times the same amp with different regulation of micro ...
