I use it for 9 months.
What I like about the 722:
the compactness of the unit, its rock solid, the 40 gigabyte hard drive and the ability to record onto compact flash simultaneously, transparent preamps which enclose high sound pressures, the limiter, converters, port firewire file transfers quick and direct in my powerbook, the HR format (up to 192 kHz 24 bit) format batteries for long recordings, general ergonomics, reliability.
I had a DA-P1 Tascamm (preamps and converters n'encaissent not transcription of its colorful, low battery and not standart, DAT format ...), I tried the Fostex FR-2 (+ wholesale + heavy batteries that do not allow long recordings, good sound anyway).
The price / quality ratio is very good given the rare qualities of the unit lacks a true cover, you must buy it or have it custom made.
Yes, I would do this choice, the quality is paid for, and reliability.
