The Shure Popper Stopper is a basic pop filter for use in the studio. If you're looking at this I'm sure you know what a pop filter is all about, but if you don't it's basically used for filtering out unwanted sibilance like hard P's, and also for protecting your microphones. This is most often used when recording vocals, but can also be useful in front of a microphone when recording guitars and other high SPL applications to help protect your mics. Although not the sturdiest of it's kind, the Popper Stopper is still effective and easy to use. It's mounted on an adjustable gooseneck wire for easy placement in front of your microphone. It can attach on to the mic stand quite easily, although I usually will put it on a separate stand from the mic itself for more directional control. This is something that you'll pretty much strictly see in a recording studio setting.

OVERALL OPINION

You can't really go wrong with the Shure Popper Stopper, as it's just as effective as almost all pop filters, save for something like that Pete's Place Audio Blast Pad Filter that is extra heavy duty. I don't own one myself as I have one from another brand, but I recently started working at a band's home studio and I've been using it there with a Rode NT-1 microphone. Again, it's quite effective and will certainly get the job done in almost all situations and definitely for recording vocals. The price isn't too bad at all as it's right in line with other similar pop filters. I prefer this type of pop filter with a larger size as it's more suited for all microphones as it's better to have more filtering than not. Price shouldn't really be much of an issue here since most pop filters are in this range, and being that this is a Shure, it's hard to go wrong with it. The Popper Stopper is more than a viable option for a pop filter for any recording studio.
