[Musikmesse][VIDEO] A new Cube Street at Roland’s

Roland introduces the new EX version of its Cube Street portable guitar amp at Musikmesse 2014.

The Cube Street EX (or STEX) is a compact 50W guitar amp that can be powered with 8 AA batteries. Roland included a new technology that allows for maximizing the batteries’ efficiency based on the specific playing situation. You can then choose between full power (approximately 5 hours of use), 25W (10 hours) or 10W (20 hours).

The Cube Street EX hosts two 8” woofers and two 2” compression drivers and offers 4 independent inputs to connect microphones, instruments or audio players, two of the input connectors being XLR so that two singers and perform at the same time. A stereo line output is also included to connect the amp to a PA system. In this case, the Cube STEX can also be used as a floor monitor and you can chain two amps via the Stereo Link connector. Lastly, the i-Cube Link allows for adding an iDevice and record to the Cube Jam free iOS app.

The Cube Street EX provides a selection of COSM sounds for electric guitars (clean, crunch, lead) in addition to making it possible to plug an acoustic guitar into the preamp. A reverb is also available, as well as a delay/chorus, a three-band EQ and a tuner.

The Cube Street EX has a tilted asymmetrical shape with a molded ABS enclosure and weighs 7.4kg. A fitted gigbag is sold separately. More info at www.boss.info.
