Mackie introduces the 2014 edition of its Thump series of powered loudspeakers, which power now reaches 1000W.

The new Thump edition features two 12” and 15” powered loudspeakers and a 18” powered subwoofer. The full range models provide 1000W of power, while de subwoofer offers 1200W, all with a Class D amplification. 

All the loudspeakers in the series are equipped with protection systems, including a limiter, a subsonic filter placed before the power amp and a protection against overheating. Note that the full range Thump12 and Thump15 can be used as floor monitors.

The Thump12 and Thump15 host in their polypropylene baffle a 12” and 15” paper cone woofer respectively and a 1.4” titanium dome compression driver. You’ll also find on each model a 3-band EQ (6dB boost/cut) with high and low shelves and sweepable mids between 100Hz and 8kHz. 

An XLR/Jack 1/4” mic/ling input is available on the rear, along with an XLR output/Thru designed to daisy-chain multiple Thump loudspeakers.

Frequency responses are 57Hz – 20kHz (-3dB) for the Thump12 and 39Hz – 20kHz (-3dB) for the Thump15, peak SPL is 125dB (Thump12) / 126dB (Thump15) and the crossover frequency has been fixed at 3kHz on both models, with a 24dB/octave slope. Projection is 90°H x 60°V.

 

The Thump18S powered subwoofer hosts a 18” ferrite magnet and cone paper woofer in a 100% wood baffle. Crossover frequency on this model in at 140Hz, frequency response ranges from 40Hz to 120Hz (-3dB) and max SPL is 130dB. You’ll find on the Thump18S a pair of XLR inputs and four XLR outputs, so you can output in mono or stereo in Full Range or High Pass configurations with other loudspeakers or to daisy-chain with other subwoofers. A polarity switch and a level knob are also available on the back.
