« Epiphone G-310 »
Published on 12/17/02 at 15:00I purchased my Epiphone G-310 thru Musician's Friend for $290(us). The main
reason I purchased this guitar was it's
similarity in looks to the Gibson SG
family and the price of the guitar was substantially lower than any of the SG's.
The playability of this guitar is what I
like the most about it. The first thing I
look for in a guitar is the amount of pressure needed to make bar chords. Eventhough the neck of this guitar is slightly wider than than a tele or a strat,
It's still easy for me to make fast chord changes. The two humbucker pickups really
have excellent tonal quality.
The only thing I dislike about the guitar is
that they used cheap parts. The pickup
switch has given me problems off and on.
The quality of this guitar is not nearly as
good as the two other Epiphones that I own.
(They are the Les Paul type models)
The input jack was screwed on too tight
which caused a crack in both directions
underneath it. As mentioned above the
pickup switch is a continual problem.
I still like this guitar eventhough it does
have minor problems. I doubt that it would
hold up very well under conditions of heavy
usage (like if you used for a gig every night). Overall it's a good looking guitar
(mine's white w/black pickguard) It's tone
is similar to the LP type models that I have and has good sustain. Can't wait to
get off work so I can go home and play, but it won't be the G-310 because it's in the shop again being repaired !
