Published on 02/06/03 at 15:00I STUMBLED ACROSS THIS GUITAR AT A FLEA MARKET IN DELAWARE, OHIO ON A NICE SUNNY DAY. EVEN BEFORE IT WAS OUT OF THE NICE HARDSHELL MOLDED CASE AS I LIFTED IT UP I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE MINE, BY THE NECK ALONE. THIS AXE COST ME $250.
THE NECK IS INCREDIBLE. THIS NECK SEEMS LIKE ITS IT A MILE LONG, AND BETWEEN THE ACTION AND THE SLIM NECK ITS A KILLER LEAD GUITAR. THIS ONE IS THE CHERRY COLOR, AND HAS THE HALF PICK GUARD, WHICH I LIKE A LOT BETTER THAN THE FULL PICK GUARD. IT ALSO HAS THE EXPOSED TYPE PICK UPS. I'VE CREATED SOME POWER CHORD SOUNDS THAT ARE SO FAT THEY SCARE ME. IT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD ON RECORDED CD.
THE TUNERS SEEM LIKE THEY COULD BE BETTER,OR MAYBE THEY JUST NEED REPLACED. THE GUITAR IS VERY LIGHTWEIGHT, AND ALMOST SEEMS TOO LIGHT. TO ME, IT WOULD FEEL BETTER IF IT WAS HEAVIER SOMEHOW. THE KNOBS COULD ALSO BE A BIT MORE RESPONSIVE.
THE CONSTRUCTION SEEMS VERY GOOD. THIS ONE IS A 1992, AND SEEMS BETTER THAN THE NEWER ONES. IT HAS A SET NECK. THE FINISH IS REALLY GOOD, EXCEPT THE PREVIOUS OWNER DIDNT GIVE IT THE RESPECT THAT HE SHOULD HAVE. SO THIS IS MY GUITAR OF CHOICE IF I AM PLAYING A DIVE CLUB.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS, SOMEWHERE DOWN THE ROAD,I ALWAYS HAD A DISLIKE FOR SG's, but now that I HAVE ONE, I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY BECAUSE I LIKE THIS ONE. ITS EASY TO SEE WHY THE SG WAS SO POPULAR, BECAUSE IT REALLY DOES HAVE A SOUND UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE, VERY POWERFULL. IT HAS GREAT SUSTAIN,AND THIS AXE REALLY KICKS SOME SERIOUS BUTT. I THINK THE CURRENT PRICE IS AROUND $400-$425.
