A little history: In 1960, Gibson is at the low point in the market for solid-bodies. The LP sold poorly (only 1700 standard LP sold between 58 and 61). Fender dominates. To boost sales, Gibson ProCD a complete redesign of the Les Paul, approaching (my review) of the Fender Stratocaster, a thinner body (more lgre), a double pan blow lgrement asymtrique (for better Access in acute) jack on the body, COMPTITE prices, ... The Premire SG (Solid Guitar) released in 1961, are called Les Paul / SG and are available in Standard, Junior and Custom. However the "new" Les Paul does not like him who lends his name. It will become just SG in 1963, when the contract between Gibson and Les Paul will end. When the original Les Paul, it does come back in 68 for the Goldtop and Custom, and even 75 (!) For Standard (sunburst), following the resurgence of interest that he include some big names 60 '(Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Keith Richard, ...). Once replacement for the Les Paul, SG A model is now well within the range from Gibson.

A beautiful guitar and well finished trs.

UTILIZATION

Warning: the very first time it seems to hold a toy in his hands, small sleeve, short scale. It will surprise the big paws (and more I come from the classical guitar then understand my astonishment).
Apart from a easy to play once used to. It smells all the quality levels. Lgre, excellent ergonomics, perfect balance, easy Access in sharp, a pleasure of every moment.

SOUNDS

You like Black Sabbath and AC / DC you will be served. the 2 humbuckers dlivrent a heavy sound and warm, but heavy ... Perfect for the blues (fats), hard rock and even metal. Pure joy, but mostly its a part: it is the sound of the Gibson SG.
It suddenly becomes Angus Young: All APRS me "Highway to hell ..."

OVERALL OPINION

At what happiness sounds like nothing that SG standard. And what quality manufacturing, all in a superb flight case. If you are like me your a fan of AC / DC or Black Sabbath, go for it! Everything is there.
