OVERALL OPINION

I use these plugins since BMD was released ...
I finally bought the bundle APRS've tried intensively for a week.
I've never worked on an SSL console, but for me these plugins are a working tool rel ... what I like:
--- SOUND! hyper effective treatments, I find that the EQ sounds annalogique trs (elsewhere in analog mode ON, it gnre of breath according to qualisation, trs low but I think mine nothing was added to the formulation ism and adds life to the sound), the high pass filters and low pass trs are effective. The gate on the channel strip is fabulous for me, I opened the plugin on a bass drum track and loads the preset "Kick Drum" and I just hallucinated the sound.
--- Interface (GUI), for me normment account, it seems that the hardware takes over, heals and trs trs clear. There is no display of the curve qualisation
countered for EQ plugins qualisation bcp and that's good, because of a m'vite to be influenced by what I see than by what I hear!
--- Little to consumption in terms of resources. and a latency of only one sample

what I like least: the price that I would levpour enlve a canvas), by the way I would not have to purchase the bundle if I had not found MOITI prices on the net.

conclusion. I possde UAD1 the plugins which are fabulous, the bundle has qd t even for me a "must have" at least for mixing rock. I think we will not either by the Neve plugins we prpare Universal Audio but that will not donns not my opinion.

The CHANNEL: Precis we do everything the ear, no curves, c but not so bad, we really feel like using an analogue channel strip (I will not say I've never a SSL between u hands)
For my part, the eq is Precise, low enough but not very close round, the game Gate + Comp is a treat, according to one side, the eq can trigger the comp and turn it into esser,
The sound is very dynamic, we manage to carve even if several switches are not regalge c ca is top!! So many good setting kon do not know lekel choose c rare with a plug,
ca does not cut very finely the frequency ... as a console! on drums, awesome c, g not managed to get the same with my UAD plug

comp the bus is on acoustic pianos or other on the bus but I like recess DSUs also

The I eq seres a little less color but the treatment is more radical than the channel

all c plugs is very very good quality they are going well with the vintage just uad

So to all that is installed, incompatibilities, resources and all that li hardware, I have no ide, I visited a studio that had the amateur pluggins following their BIG PC . I have no ide concerns they may have encountered during installation.

Who have tried the following plug-ins, I would spend my humble opinion amateur ...

The master slices are long enough, however I do not think have been around a few hours of testing:

Each slice includes filters, phases, qualisers paramtrique with adjustable Q, compressor, gate, expander, in short, everything you need to sculpt the sound with a knife, but I, so used my table Amek / TAC, I was totally lost in all these parameters, and the sound did not seem better or worse, gambling APRS have all these parameters.
My ear is probably not sufficient causes (though I understand the qualisation, compression and everything on my own stuff ... and my speakers).

I do not know what to think of the slices, must still know how to use ...

Indeed, a battery bus or rhythm (with low range in, why not ???!!!), is actually the sound is slamming but also by bringing a more "massive".
There is a knob that adds the "grain" and you really think is Fraine and leave room for other instruments so we want to see this jusqu'o can go ...

Highly recommended and for me especially for the compressor.

I will not repeat the installation and the rest mentioned above.
I only problem is the GUI not super stable under sonar (if there is another plugin over here visually shudder!! Nothing to do with my fx 1600 Graphics card, since that is in my other sequencer nikel is a recurrent problem of waves and application plugs .... so dx 8 / 10

I use it on my HP 8710w Core 2 Duo T7700 at 2.4GHz, 4g ram, with Fireface 400: it is stable and solid as u rock, the more I post the notice because I was surprised by the opinion PRECEDING on the consolidated cpu!
on a project type (Kontakt 3 with 16 tracks, Sampletank 16pistes, 3 tracks stylus, battery 3.2 instances of EZ drummer with all the tracks and about 5 other plugs) all in the 512 latency, I can do to you twenty ssl (most in stereo!) and I will not exceed 40% of cpu!

You testerezla latency of your system, the source of problem too Souvant sounds or charge card plugs!

OVERALL OPINION

I used for about 6 months
And I can say that it's heavy: the house I have a PSP, URS, Voxengo, Nomad Factory, Waves API, and mix well all my ds's first SSL, with Sonnox (which are surgical and great too)
EQ: To here during my first reminded me of the sound (1988) when they go on ssl 4000 mix! You say it kif kif, maybe not, not in any case it is super super close! She is always musical and knows when to be precise, when the low pass and high it is very soft (a gentle slope so) that does not bother me, you want to cut at 50 Hz, the fools you at 80 Hz (but It was the same on the console!) is my brief eq perefere!
Strip: you got the short called EQ: 10/10, you're compressor I use a lot more like limit in effect, and a gate section that use expander is beautiful! sorry for the opinion of my friend precednt but it's really useful!, when Souvant t'equalize, then you compress the sound with a lot of "leftover" styles of reverb, echo delay Souvant ect is a mess with the gate section (pander mode) is angel!

(We will say to me and my property down your end, Yeah but take a ReFX Nexus and many times even with reverb and delay to zero, the origin of sounds is shielded reverb) Anyway the slice is very good too !

Comp Bus: then I take me there! Ze SSL is really touch! Take a mix, goes inside and the magic, can be known to use a comp! Of course you can do to pump, or almost no interest on any mix (depending on the type of zik we do in fact!) But starting from such preset mastering you there is quite mild here the fact is, in fact Leave everything as default and already you "see" the SSL sound!
Do not hesitate to use it even on the tracks if necessary!

It is on on my master bus, followed by URS neve eq eq mix here and slap!

The question I ask myself is Liquid Waves Sll vs mix? I made compararison AB right now and I'll keep you posted! In fact this is my comparison factor, if emultations SSL réeussies then we can assume that the rest did and therefore it's worth it, just for diversity (since I have so far not cpu resource problem) if not for lovers go to the SSL Duende SSL is pure but be careful not 4000!

So to summarize, if you have the budget and a fairly good config do not hesitate one second as the most important sound is to go, the more contrairemment external dsp, we have no limit to numbers ds the absolute (except the cpu) but especially if you mix a project with an external DSP and drags it well for you need your card, if it is down or anything, you're in the m. ... contraitrement with plugs that are "privileges" to transport and always return!

Sorry for the mistakes but it is 5:12 in the morning and after the session I ds koma!

- The compressor is the easiest to resolve, and its effect is very nice. A battery is pfft ... what about ... 8 years since I started the computer components, I've never seen a plug in as accurate, that does not degrade the sound. It's super cool. He has his p'tit "grain" you might say, but I find it very transparent.

- The eq is not bad but I do not use too much, rather I use the cores. on the other hand I love low cut filters. it is superb.

OVERALL OPINION

- For two months, you can not do without it, these plugs are the best ... they make me almost forget the audio kaerjus yellow were incredible though.

- The Wave's has strong ... very strong, these plugs are fantastic, it's true to feel like a real comp to hand.

- A big thumbs up to developers, a great job that deserves reward.

- on the other hand I also have a Bellari 220 comp lim lamp in my home studio ... it is still required ...

OVERALL OPINION

I know this bundle by another studio, and I had the right to receive an invitation directly to a demo of waves ssl. I spent the crazy stuff there in waves, finally good, they have a true slice ssl and we made a comparison between hardware and software and I'm still really amazed by the resemblance between the true wafer and the plug in short, I bought it locally in CT (a half price !!!!!)
I use it almost everywhere now, I admit that the grip is a bit delicate in terms of range but hey ....
I do it again ten times the same choice, and more designers in waves are really nice and very available, I have just been contacted to become a beta tester so that's it in brief benef !!!!!

Waves installs are easy. Not issues with compatibility in Cubase 64 bit. That's always nice. I'm not sure if this has a manual because I've never really read it. I just sort of learned it as I went which in retrospect was probably not the best idea because this thing can be tricky at first. Honestly though I think the learning curve doesn't matter too much due to the great presets included. You can do a lot with this out of the box just with the presets alone. Even cut a full mix if you are patient. I found the channel strip to have a medium difficulty to use. It's not super complicated but it is tricky at first. Not a gripe. Just honesty.

I use it with Cubase and it works fine. Does take up a fair amount of resources but I can imagine with all the emulation going on this is to be expected. If you end up using this as often as I do then you might want to think about getting a fast rig. Mine is top of the line and I still have trouble with keeping a few of them running sometimes. In some mixes I will have 6 or 7 at once and have to start freezing.

OVERALL OPINION

This has become my most used all in one comp and EQ plugin. It does both wondefully. Adds a serious punch to everything works miracles for a song that is in danger of crowding. The comp can be a bit much on some slower songs when dynamics need to be left low but I must say the EQ sounds great on everything no matter what. There's some kind of magic sauce going on here...and I don't know why but I love what it is. There have been days where I have tried 10 or 20 other plugins on a track just to go back to the SSL. It's that good. If you are just getting started in the VST game then I would suggest you buy this pack first. You can do a lot with it and not have to make another purchase for some time. I highly recommend it for the price. I just wish I would've found it sooner. This is one of those vsts that makes you want to load up ALL your old projects and put the SSL on them to see what wonders it can do to a remix.

Install is quick and easy. I wouldn't expect any less from Waves. It comes with some VERY usable presets including the ones from CLA if you want fast results. But I expect most users will read the manual and want to learn the ins and outs. Everything is laid out as if you had the console in front of you. Accurate controls and everything. The accuracy to the original here is very impressive and clearly Waves did a good job making a solid recreation here.

I've used a lot of channel strip eq/comp plugins. Some cheap ones and some really expensive ones. If there's one thing I know it's that there's always something better. But I've been using the SSL for a couple of years now and for full band mixes, I'm convinced this is the best. For an EQ/comp strip this is the one I keep coming back to. It just has that magic tone that no other plug seems to give me. What's even odder is that the presets are actually usable. I can load up a whole project with drums/guitar/bass/vocals/keys and use the presets on all 10 or 15 tracks or so...and it works well. Sounds good. In that respect it's pretty incredible. I've never encountered a vst that can do that. The cpu use is great too. After you load up more than 6 or 7 you might have to freeze them individually depending on cpu use.

OVERALL OPINION

The SSL is on almost everything I do with a full band. On acoustic or relaxed mixes it can be a bit much but when you have a big mix, it goes a long way toward organizing the chaos. Both the eq and compression is gives to every channel is awesome and better than about anything I've used. The only thing that comes close for compression is T-racks plugs for me. The price isn't dirt cheap, but considering how much use I get it's a tremendous value.

I use the Waves SSL native bundle. The install was very simple. If your planing to buy this then there is no need for the manual as you should already know what you need to use it for. However, should you need to read the manual it is very clear an concise on the functions of this great VST.



SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Let me make something clear about EQ's. Every EQ's has its own foot print or tonality that it leaves on audio. Solid Stage Logic is known for its warmth and compressors. The compression seems to have the ability to blend your music together unlike any other compressor out there.

I have worked with a real SSL and i want to say that these VST's are spot on with the quality and sound they produced in relation to the hardware.

the VST's are stable, i have never had a problem with them.

OVERALL OPINION

The waves SSL, in my opinion works well with HIP -HOP, Rock and Jazz. Sure you can applie it to any type of music you want. But Solid State Logic EQ'a have a specific feel and sound to them. They color the music and you can hear that, in situations where you do not want to color the music this is not the EQ you want to use.

This Bundle is well worth the price, other wise you would pay thousands of dollars to use a real SSL board. I don't know how they did it, but the SSL VST can stand as a fill in if you don't have enough for the real thing.

This software uses a lot of DSP. So make sure your DAW meets processing requirements. If you can afford it, buy the SSL versions with outboard DSP such as the x-patch or x-logic.

I’ve used this in Logic Pro 8 and 9 without a problem.

I have a Mac Pro 2.66 Quad Core with 8 GB of ram and a White Macbook with Intel Core 2 Duo Cpu with 4 GB of Ram.

The installation is really easy and the the manual is well written.

These plugins works like a charm, never had a problem in more than 2 years of use.

However I’m still waiting for the release of the 64 Bit native versions.


OVERALL OPINION

If you are familiar with audio gear, you will sure know Solid State Logic from England. Thanks to their sonic qualities and multiple options, the SSL consoles becomes a worldwide standard in the recording studios. The SL4000, the console on which these plugins are modelled, have two features in particular that set it above the competition. A complete dynamics section on every channel, and a master-compressor in the center of the console. Add to that an outstanding clear signal path and a punchy and modern EQ and you will understand why, according to Billboard magazine, these consoles were used on almost three quarters of all U.S. Number One Singles.

This was the first attempt of Waves in recreating the sound of such a legendary console, and according to them, these plugins used side by side with their real counterpart produced -35db of phase cancellation.

The company modelled 3 different sections.

The first two are the SSL G-Channel and E-Channel channel strips (there is also an additional plugin, The G Equalizer)
They offer:
- Input and output section
- Low and High cut filters
- 4 Four EQ that can be routed to the processor output or to the dynamics sidechain section. “Q” can be adjusted in the LMF and HMF ranges.
- Compressor/Limiter with Threshold, Ratio, release, fast and slow attack and automatic gain makeup
- Gate/expander with the same controls as the compressor.
The dynamics can be switched pre-equalizer or post-equalizer.

The other thing modelled is the Master Buss compressor, with threshold, gain make up, attack, release, ratio and a particular fade-off section.
All the 4 plugins have Load, Save, A-B switching and help options.

The G-Channel and The E-Channel differs for the fact that the first one tend to be used for more aggressive frequencies cutting and boosting.

I’ve used these plugins with a lot of bands and with a lot of musical genres.
And the results were always outstanding. The boosting never sound harsh or unnatural, and the punch that a SSL compressor can give you is amazing.

I’ve also used the Master Buss Compressor, either on the Master bus, with a maximum of 2db of gain reduction, and a ratio of 2 to 1, and on a lot of group tracks. It will let your drums and mixes sound punchy and huge, still retaining the original attack, without squashing too much life from them.

In these years the price is dropped significantly for these plugins, if you can afford them, my advice is to buy them in conjunction with the Vintage and API series. Top notch plugins from a great company!

The Waves Ltd. SSL 4000 Collection is a bundle of plug-ins available for nearly all formats. Included in the bundle are the SSL E and G Channel plug-ins, as well as the G-Master Buss Compressor and the G-Equalizer. This bundle is a really powerful group of plug-ins, as these are some of the most realistic hardware emulators that I've heard out there. I don't own this bundle myself, as I've only used it at the studio where I'm working, so I can't speak about the process of installing this bundle at all. However, the plug-ins are easy enough to figure out in terms of using them, even if you haven't used a real SSL before. The G and E Channel plug-ins do have a pretty good amount going on, but if you break everything down you'll find that there isn't anything too out of the ordinary going on. I haven't seen a manual for the 4000 Collection bundle...

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The system that we're running the Waves Ltd. SSL 4000 Collection at the studio is Pro Tools HD based, so we've got the TDM version of this bundle. The computer that we've got to run it on is a very powerful Mac, although I'm not sure the exact specs on it. We've got a ton of analog gear and a Neve 8068 console, so it's definitley saying something that these plug-ins get used a lot. Of course if you have an HD system, you'll be all set with performance, but I can't say how well these would run on an LE system...

OVERALL OPINION

If you were going to buy a single bundle of plug-ins for your studio, I'd highly encourage you to consider the Waves Ltd. SSL 4000 Collection. Not only do each of the plug-ins sound amazing, but there's a whole lot that can be done with all of them. Usually you won't find plug-in emulations of pieces of hardware to sound this good, as most of them don't even come close to the original. This isn't really the case with the Waves SSL 4000 Collection, as these sound pretty close to the original although I haven't had a chance to shoot them out. I like the G-Channel plug-in the best since it's the most versatile, but I use the G-Channel Master Buss Compressor a good amount as well, and I'm definitely a fan of all the plug-ins available here. If you've got a studio of any kind I'd recommend trying out these plug-ins, as I think you'll want to add them to your suite as soon as you're able!
