As a first purchase of preamp I would say that everything is there in terms of connectivity.

-Possibility to connect two instruments (against adjusting the EQ will be the same for 2)
Piezo-Booster (not bad for passive piezo)
-Ability to combine two inputs (great for a guitar with two recording sources .... ex = a microphone in rosette and piezo sensors.
- Mute to agree ... Boost to play harder ...
-And everything else full connectivity to connect the beast to an amp or other mixer ...

I have this little gem for 4 days, and c is my first model preamp.
I hesitated with the "D-tar Solstice", but the price is not the same.

What I love this tonebone:

Possibility of 2-plugger instruments and especially (for me by, t have installed a micro k & k trinity on my guitar) to mix two sources of sound recordings.

Cons:

-No phantom power

UTILIZATION

Configuration:

SOUNDS

This thing is a wealth of power in a small little direct box. It has unique mix function that allows you to insert to instruments and mix the both together or even using two different pickups on a single guitar that feature is an option as well. It also has the option o boosting your signal as well. Top that off with a built in effects loop for running delays and choruses and such into your acoustic signal. This is great for someone who may be using an acoustic in a small coffee shop and needs to fill the air with multiple leads and throw them in a loop and playing over the effected riff or signal. It is nice for using layers of guitars signals or even using your main signal and adding effects on top of that.

OVERALL OPINION

At new these units come in right at around $299, which is a fantastic price for a great sounding and resourceful preamp and direct box. I would recommend this to any club or church that needs hook up acoustic guitars on an ongoing basis and needs a very useful and versatile direct box preamp.

I've only used it for acoustic guitar, but it advertises being able to be used with any acoustic instrument and beyond. I've used the Radial Engineering Tonebone PZ-Pre for a live recording session in the studio for an acoustic guitar. We ran it through this before putting it through the console, and going to the console it had an extremely clean tone. The price of the Tonebone PZ-Pre isn't all that expensive, especially if you're going to have this as a main stay in your live rig. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who has two acoustic instruments that they would want to have at the same level, or if you're simply looking for a great acoustic preamp!
