Das U110 Module ist eine rein Sample basierter Klangerzeuger. Beim U110 wird der komplette Sound eines Instrumentes durch Samples wiedergegeben. Das Lied "You" von Ten Sharp wurde komplett mit dem U220 (dem größeren Bruder des U110) eingespielt. Die U110/220-Module waren so um '88 bis '92 ziemlich beliebte Preset-Kisten, da ihre Naturklänge in der Preisklasse nur wenig Konkurrenz hatten.

RACK MODEL 2500 Francs purchased used at the time.
Sounds are editable LFO (approx) only on the machine.
Has 6 separate audio outputs + 2 main outputs + midi in out and thru.
Classic sounds ... not for contemporary music. sounds are realistic for some ... finally a good product very durable. but does not compete with the new products on the market. A good complement of gear only.

UTILIZATION

config is simple and the manual is enough ...
The editions and is backing sounds simple. ability to record via Bulk Dump on Seq.
Attention no effect modules revB kind or other. the edition is limited to 1 LFO, velocity, volume, sustain the attack, the relaxation .... etc. ..

SOUNDS

The sounds are more suited to my style of music. But I only serves to reinforce some instruments such as bass, strings, to have a grain retro chip.
There are realistic for the time when it was released. However now the sounds are no longer current. it is not a synth, but a sound module supposed to replicate real stamps.
I prefer strings, some brass and BASS and Pianos.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it since its acquisition. My first sound module multimbres.
I think we can find some cool sounds to complete a parks existing machines. For a price of about 100 euros occaz, it is always good to take. But if you are a beginner, do not be disappointed because you rendered.
With experience so I remake the same choice, because at the time or I had, I found the sound lifelike. Now when you compare it with current gear, there's nothing to see.

SOUNDS

Sound:

I'd say ... "Standard". It is perfect for making backing track or anything like that, or as expander piano sounds. It worked fine ...

... without disturbing the sound silk, this is not a North or a virus, it's just an old box that troubleshoots and allows us to get 128 sounds very simple ... do not expect to use very advanced music. This is something much better than the general basis noon, but it's still the same story.

OVERALL OPINION

With experience, I would have preferred to have me take a thunes and roland juno "recent", rather than a keyboard and an expander.

... Finally, I liked him. But my opinion is not used much because I know almost nothing of this type expanders and my use was very limited!

The Roland U 110 is a vintage rack mountable sound module that is acoustic oriented with a good amount of preset settings that can give you a boost of creativity. Now if you arent into vintage sounding synths especially from around the 80’s then this isn’t for you. This has a lot of vintage sounds but there are some really good ones like some of the strings. Some of the string presets are very good quality and sound full rich and very real. But besides that most of the other stuff to me is way too outdated to still be used in todays music. Also, the Roland U 110 is very hard to find now. They are actually pretty cheap units and they weren’t that expensive when they first came out but finding one today will be a difficult task.


UTILIZATION

Easy to set up, pretty basic just like most rack unit synths. Its just about getting your daw to recognize it. But the navigation on the Roland U 110 itself can get a little aggrevating. Just too much to do on it and the screen is poorly lit that it makes it un easy on the eyes.


SOUNDS

Sounds are ok for some of the presets, the others not so good. Outside of me saying the strings are good, some of the brass is good as well. Not that cheesy brass either. There are some really good brass sounds on the Roland U 110. With a little reverb you will love them.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall, decent unit and it was even better back when it first came out. There really is no need to go out and purchase this though (if you can find it) unless you are into vintage gear from 20 plus years ago. Just don’t see the need for it unless you are a collector or like having stuff like this around.

Setup the "Roland" is difficult to say, a maze of menus and sub menus!

SOUNDS

Overall the sounds are not bad (cfm)
acoustic sounds rather average, the sounds of synth strings, tablecloths, brass very well, and the sound of sax Dement enough!
No multi-effect, just a little chorus and tremolo not terrible
The problem is the breath to the onset of the (resolved on the U220).

OVERALL OPINION

I have a long time and I like it despite its flaws.
You can not say that it is essential, but useful when memesurtout for 100 euros.
