bset way to record streaming audio and then burn it to cd?

I'm currently using total recorder to capture real audio. I'm recording at 44.1 KHZ / 61 bit stero in a PCM foremat. I'm using winamp Pro, to convert and burn. I'm getting a background hiss through winamp.
I have a creative sound blaster PCI, sound card.
Is there a better way?

make sure when you record that way that everything in the windows mixer is muted "mic in , line in. synth, midi"

and only wav and main are listen able, same when its set to record, so youre only recording the wav channel which should be the only one UN muted at that time

i had hiss from this problem, maybe it will help
