Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor

The Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor is a single channel dynamic processor.  It has XLR connections in the back that make it easy to hook up to a console or audio interface and is an all analog piece of gear.  This is a rack mountable piece of gear and will only take up a single rack space.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor is pretty easy to follow, although it does provide a lot of different parameters that you should try out and get used to as they can all affect the sound a great deal.  The compressor has parameters for input level, side chain, ratio, compression curve, mix, attack, release, germanium drive, and feedback.  It also has a switch to choose between either dirty or clean compression.  After playing around with the parameters for a little while I was able to have a pretty good grasp on what everything does and for this reason I would say that a manual probably isn't necessary.


SOUND QUALITY

The sound of the Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor is overall quite outstanding.  I love how many different parameters you have to work with here as it makes it a very versatile compressor that is capable of being used with just about any instrument that you would want to use compression with.  It can vary in the different sounds that you can get with it because of all of the parameters, making it suitable for just about all types of drums, guitars, and vocals.  I don't have any complaints about the Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor because I am always happy with the sounds that I achieve with this bad boy.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor for two or three years and I would definitely vouch for its great sound and overall worth.  If you were to only have money to buy a single channel compressor to use in your studio, the Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor would definitely not be a bad choice at all.  I would definitely shop around as there are a ton of boutique compressors out there that sound incredible around this price range, but wouldn't blame you if you didn't make it past the Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor as it is that great!

UTILIZATION

Trs versatile compressor. Here are the settings:
Bypass Switch: Compressor In / Out
Switch Clean / Dirty: Clean the distortion mode is between 0.2 and 0.5% / Dirty mode between 2 and 5% (this switch bypass distortion compensation)
Input: gain of the comp (Fawn 1176)
Sidechain: a high-pass filter on the sidechain (OUT/30/60/90/150/300Hz). Reduces the detection frquences low. Very practical to avoid the low frq overwritten signal.
Ratio: 1.5:1 to 10:1 compression ratio
Comp Curve: 6 Compression curves. Uses forms of detection to vary the diffrent rponses, the softer the harder. Resistance: a gentle compression. Germ Soft: soft germanium diode detection. Germ Med: Use several germanium diodes for a response harder. Med Silicon: Silicon diode detection; Rponse medium. Silicon Hard: detection by two silicone diodes; Rponse harder. zener Hard: detection by Zener simple answer very hard. The montages DIFFERENT affect the slope and color compression.
Wet / Dry mix: for the determination between the signal and compress the uncompressed signal. Note that the direct signal (not even happen when compressed by the Tagus amplification germanium.
Attack and Release: no values ​​given for these paramettres. But the attack is fast trs (trs modern) and the release really long. It does not help you but the result is impressive trs.

An efficient compression trs. The soft rev up the extreme.
This compressor offers many of the palettes of the Manir Distressor, but with a color that would approach the old Neeve.
Fidler color range germanium, warm and dynamic trs.
I test on mono sources (vocals, bass, guitars ...) and stro sources (batteries buss, mix).

OVERALL OPINION

In testing for qques days.
It's a beautiful machine priced rsonnable (1700 ttc little prs) with many possibilities.
Hsit I buy two 1176 or Phoenix but finally I ordered two germ comp.
These machines have really bluff their ability and power.
I would tell you more diligent use APRS ...

This machine is monstrous. I used a lot on batteries. Really perfect. We can crasis max (Zener. ..) and re-assay for the direct rcuprr dynamics. I also respect the vote, with the super distortion mode on Exhaust-The definition (like a THD on TG1). The mode mix as for the determination of dynamics. Perfect for bass and guitar ... pure it will have to me other 2 ...

UTILIZATION

We must go in for a little understanding of the different parameters not very common, but by turning knobs and listening, we know quickly who is doing what and how.
The manual I am not sure there have one, just a sheet of Recall I think, but at the same time, why?

SOUND QUALITY

How to say, it is huge, really.
I tried many things, in the genus Soc Buzz Audio 1.1, 12, Audient Black Comp, Fatso UBK, Trident .... Besides the DL241, dbx 160 and other BSS DPR 402. I never found something so monstrous.
Well, Fatso the UBK is a war machine but in a different register.
In emulation, the only one that had a lot more is the API 2500, but we are still far away, well, it's hard to compare the hard and soft.
Placed on a group of battery, it's just fantastic, like on keyboards or anything, you can really adapt to everything, there are so many possibilities.
And he has this magic that happens in it though, it comes out really embellished.
Well then on the other hand, it's still typed, if you want the ultra-transparent, it's just not the right machine.

OVERALL OPINION

This machine is great, I had already Germanium preamp, which is undoubtedly the prémp my favorite, far ahead of many other things that I tested (Avalon (argh!), Neve, SSL, API, ATI, Midas. ..), it's the same with this compressor. I bec if I should keep only one machine in my stock hardware, it would be without hesitation that one.
The value for money is up, given the extent of the machine, the price is really justified.
