The P6 is a monotimbral polyphonic expander with 6-12 voices (if you have two chained P6). This is an instrument based on virtual analog synthesis.
Everything is controllable with an ultra intuitive user interface.
It is of course MIDI.

UTILIZATION

The big big strong point of the P6 is its user interface: very simple to program. We have everything on hand. After the machines full of buttons (Arturia Minibrute ...), after very well thought machines (Mutable ...), here's the next step: the ultra intuitive interface. The designer has done a great job. He is a genius! I find myself, when I want a particular sound, to use the P6 because I'm sure to achieve what I want in 30 seconds. We have everything on hand: oscillators, ENV, LFO. And the result is polyphonic. And there is room to store patches, and this too is very intuitive.
While composing, you often want a sound and fast. And the P6 is faster than delving into vast sound banks, faster than programming a virus or even the Rolls full of button that is the Omega 8. Yes I preferably use the 300€ P6 than machines 10 times more expensive, even when they are properly connected and operational under my eyes!

SOUNDS

Soundwise again it's a nice surprise. The P6 really sounds good, it has a unique grain, it provides a true creative potential for us that start from sounds, that are inspired by a pattern itself played from a sound.
Of course the P6 is not a MS20 or a Juno 106 or ... The P6 is not a synth that mimics other synths. This is a device that resembles only itself, with its own specificity.
The fact that it is digital (virtual analog synthesis) takes nothing. This is not an analog synth, period. However, the P6 is known to produce very expressive sounds, from strings (normal for a poly), evolving pads, to effects so disconcerting to obtain, through sounds with more percussive components - very useful for synth piano sounds for example. Count on big sound, I have not yet explored the thin side of the machine.
So it comes with hundreds of patches for a total of 200 memories in the machine. Perhaps it is me that want to do everything myself, but it is expected to create its own sound bank. The good news is that this will take you one quarter of an hour for a first good sonic palette.
Incidentally MIDI implementation is super well designed and saving patches in groups or individually with our sequences, is remarkable: it can save its patches No. 100-115 anywhere, and so simply, intuitively, without losing control. All synths should be like this! When you are told that the designer is a genius!

OVERALL OPINION

Used in my studio since May 2014, it will not leave me (in the countryside, on vacation ...). So I bought a second one for the weekend and possibly to increase the polyphony of the first. one.
I use synths for 20 years.
P6 Highlights: sound, great ergonomics, and the more I find it beautiful.
Weaknesses: This is not a general machine and for me the bank of patches is only at the beginning of its construction.
As I buy one every 5 months, obviously I would do this choice again.
Finally, P6's dad is French. And we must admit we are living in a golden age of synthesis in France with the trio Arturia, Mutable and Audiothingies.

On paper, he has it all, despite its small size. It remains for me to ride, thanks to record hyper and full pro, and customer service that the big brands have a little forgotten hat!

UTILIZATION

Same, it is super intuitive, the controls seem to fall under the fingers, I can not wait to turn it on.

SOUNDS

Functions and super rich and varied sounds from what I've heard here and there.

OVERALL OPINION

I just bought it, the soldering iron heats in this very moment, but considering the service, the quality of this SDIY with modulation matrix etc ... I would do the same choice again!
