UTILIZATION

Ergonomics is the main strength of this synth. I touch a few yamaha dj numriques, which I believe the exact opposite of the simplicity of northern rack.

Go North!!

I like the Nord Rack 2x a lot, but there are a few downsides of it that cause major problems for me. Endlessly scrolling through meaningless number after number to get to the patch you want to play is just... irritating to say the least. A larger display with the ability to give patches meaningful names would have been nice. As it stands, you better have a pen and notebook with a patch list on it handy, or you could spend the majority of your time just trying to find that awesome patch you made earlier.


UTILIZATION

The Nord Rack 2x so easy to use, unlike a Virus or any of the hybrid computer based synth boxes on the market today. With over 1,000 patches & performances, a decent arpeggiator, patch layering, and other usefull items, it is a very powerful synth.


SOUNDS

The Nord Rack 2x sounds absolutely crisp, buttery, sharp, and warm when you need it to. I cannot describe the sound you can get from this thing considering the price point - you simply have to hear it for yourself. There are no on-board effects (which is fine, I'm sure saving on the cost) so you'll have to look elsewhere for that. There is a dedicated knob or button for almost everything on this synth, so tweaking and creating patches from scratch is a breeze without even opening the manual. Anyone with any synth experience at all will be right at home with this product.


OVERALL OPINION


Overall, the only negative thing I say say about this synth is that there needs to be a better way to navigate the patches (as I talked about earlier) Other than that, this synth simply has to be heard to be believed! If you're thinking about buying this synth, I say go ahead and get it, once you hear the sound quality and the patches, you will be happy. Just be prepared to scroll!

I possde this machine fvrier since 2006. I bought new 990 euros. Special mention por LFO Section ultra easy to access (if you already know a few) and yet comprehensive: routing to oscillator 1, 2, 1 & 2, the volume or the filter envelope ... Everything is there.

SOUNDS

Good is the highlight here the programming is put aside in favor of spontaneity and sound.
It is oriented electro, bass-based organic acids, square or round aggressive electro, ambient pads spaceship or underwater, or other sounds more disturbed.
Analog modeling is successful despite the sound more focused in the midrange frequencies in the low and infra.

It's been two months since I received it and I already know like my pocket, the pleasant surprise is the sound and texture, super punchy!
It is of the composition and I'm not going to sell it!
If you are looking for a good synth efficient and intuitive, comfortable in the studio or live, with an expressive grain and sharp, this one is for you!
PS: If you are more interested in trying the keyboard version as the control part (the pots, buttons ...) is located in the upper left, and I find it quite uncomfortable, it is even for this reason that I 'I opted for the rack.

Everything is extremely simple. Before even reading the manual (clear and enjoyable) dj can tweak and find sounds. This is the highlight of this machine: it does not require that be triturated, everything is in hand.

I came across an opportunity in December (a will therefore be three months).

Difficult to say, I do not see this machine default. We can always say that such a thing as that the function does not, etc.. Yes, there are other synths that have an architecture diffrent, sounds DIFFERENT ... fortunately! But playing on it is a pleasure rel. It can produce tablecloths bewitching, sounds weird, and so on. I had a Korg X5 before (I still have that matter) is supposed to produce more sounds ralistes, but compared to the keyboard, it's zero-to ergonomics. If not then I shall decide for the keyboard, I test a Roland SH 201 I found a little flat and a Micron for which I almost crack but compared to the beautiful red seemed just tape the eye with a lot of sounds prprogramms "trend" but quite limited edition in real time.
- How do you report qualitprix?
Excellent. I touch 650 euros. I think for that price it is an instrument full of resources and requiring even (I Espree) lots of secrets. Trivia: There were some songs with friends, I have not had much difficulty to adapt to the rhythmic bass guitar has sounded in many styles drlement DIFFERENT trs ( let's rock to funk sensual nag).

this is where it is spoiled a bit.
in absolute terms, it's a superb machine! but I do not like the category of VA, virtual analog. one is not virtual because it's hard and everything is handmade ... two is frankly not analog! the machine makes sounds really great, but far, far away from what is entitled to an analog 100% pure juice! regarding the lower is the cat, it sounds metallic. some say cold, but I maintain metal ... So for the low sub-type is dead. we will say that I do not know the program ... but even knowing it (anyway, thank you, this is not my first synth), or by collecting sounds from the web and elsewhere expected to do the job is really means (for my taste).

greatly disappointed by its lack of trunk (both overall volume than low frequencies), I use this little red without stopping for leads, some drums and fx, but definitely not for the bass. the addition of pedals or a rack of effects is needed quickly to give it body on stage or in the mix.

OVERALL OPINION

After long hesitation the Prophet 08 I must say that I do not regret my choice because super good value for money. In addition to its powerful and sharp sound quality, this 2X is super sturdy and elegant ... It is complemented perfectly with my Virus TI 2.

UTILIZATION

I post voluntarily and almost "out of the box to" ease of use of any electronic machine is for me an essential point:
General Setup: Installation is very simple, you plug the right taken in the right places, you configure the I / O sound card and go!
Manual: provided in English and French in an excellent translation, it is clear and complete. Each section is dealt with very simple and can immediately test the machine. Only criticism, the manual is common with the Nord Lead and Nord Rack, in my opinion it does not include enough about the specifics of the latter (eg MIDI connections are bound to be different and are not detailed).
Editions sounds (no effects per se!): Clavia's great strength. From a preset whatsoever, no problem for crushing in all directions at its convenience, each button or volume pot with a specific function. Freedom of expression and creativity is there!

With experience, would you do this choice without hesitation.
